THE US Open Championship meet consistently attracts high-caliber national and international swimmers. Swimming World photographer Peter Bick takes us through the sessions:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/media\/Peacock,S._2012_US_Open_0382.jpg\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Stephanie Peacock<\/b> broke the first meet record in the 800 freestyle, capturing the 24-year-old mark from 1980&#039;s and 90&#039;s distance superstar Janet Evans. She doubled up her winnings the following night in the 400 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/media\/McBroom,M._2012_US_Open_0407.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Michael McBroom<\/b> showed off his Longhorn pride after winning the 1500 freestyle. This meet, he&#039;s shown himself as a versatile distance swimmer. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/media\/Romano,M._2012_US_Open_1085.jpg\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Megan Romano<\/b> quickly showed she is a force to be reckoned with, capturing titles in the 100 freestyle the first finals session, and the 200 backstroke the next night. Tonight she may add to her winnings, qualifying for finals in both the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. She qualified first in the 100 backstroke.  <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/media\/Cordes,K._2012_US_Open_1452.jpg\" align=\"left\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The breaststroke events have been consistently exciting throughout the meet. Starting off, <b>Kevin Cordes<\/b> set a new National Age Group Record in the 200 breaststroke in the morning session of day two, lowering the mark at finals, but losing his top spot in a tough race with <b>Bernard Johnson<\/b>.
