Along with his coaching duties, Maguire spent the last few years serving as an assistant athletic director and also formerly worked as the women&#8217;s tennis coach and assistant women&#8217;s lacrosse coach.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mick has impacted nearly 500 student-athletes lives over the years and has been a driving force behind our Intramural and Recreation program,&#8221; Clarkson Athletic Director\u00a0<strong><dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/clarksonathletics.com\/staff.aspx?staff=27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener smarttag\" rev=\"27\">Steve Yianoukos<\/a><\/dfn><\/strong>\u00a0remarked. &#8220;Although we are excited for Mick to start the next chapter of his life, we are certainly going to miss his insight, knowledge, and, above all, his great sense of humor. I would like to thank Mick for all he has done and wish him well in his retirement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Under Maguire&#8217;s tutelage, four swimmers have participated at the NCAA Championships, and his athletes have also excelled in the classroom where they have amassed numerous academic honors.<\/p>\n<p>A 1985 graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Maguire swam freestyle events for the Bears&#8217; swim team and was a member of Potsdam&#8217;s 1982 SUNYAC Championship squad. He held the Bears&#8217; school record in the 500 free and also had the fastest time at the SUNYAC Championship Meet in the 1650 free for nearly three decades. A native of Malone, NY, Maguire was selected to the Franklin Academy High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his impressive performance as a high school athlete.
