The fourth and final night of competition at the 2018 Fran Crippen Memorial SMOC, hosted at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex, was highlighted by strong competition in the 100 stroke events.<\/p>\n
Breeja Larson<\/strong> topped strong international competition to take home the 100 breast victory, while Team Elite teammembers\u00a0Kendyl Stewart<\/strong> and\u00a0Hellen Moffitt<\/strong> demonstrated their butterfly prowess.<\/p>\n Breeja Larson<\/strong> of New York Athletic Club picked up the victory in the women’s 100 breast, touching the wall in a final time of 1:07.84.<\/p>\n Kierra Smith<\/strong>, winner of the 200 breast, and\u00a0Ruta Meilutyte<\/strong>, winner of the 50 breast, delivered matching times of 1:08.08 for second.<\/p>\n Both Smith (1:07.05) and Meilutyte (1:07.35) have posted faster times in the 100 for 2018 and sit at 12th and 17th in the world rankings.<\/p>\n Mario Koenigsperger<\/strong>, representing Trojan Swim Club, grabbed a narrow victory over GTAC’s\u00a0Sam Iida<\/strong> in the men’s 100 breast. Koenigsperger stopped the clock at a 1:02.80 over Iida’s\u00a01:02.89.<\/p>\n KISU’s J<\/strong>aren LeFranc\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a time of 1:03.74.<\/p>\n Phoenix Swim Club’s\u00a0Emi Moronuki<\/strong> grabbed victory in the women’s 100 back, turning in a time of 1:01.27 for the gold.<\/p>\n Mission Viejo’s\u00a0Isabella Arcila Hurtado<\/strong> took second overall with a time of 1:02.20, while ISC’s\u00a0Molly Gowans\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 1:02.31.<\/p>\n Trojan’s\u00a0Luca Spinazzola<\/strong> and UCSB’s\u00a0Douglas Nogueira<\/strong> posted close finishes for first and second in the men’s 100 back. Spinazzola claimed the win with a 56.80, just ahead of Nogueira’s 56.86.<\/p>\n CASC’s\u00a0Cole Pratt\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three with a 57.06.<\/p>\n Team Elite’s Hellen Moffitt<\/strong> neared the top 20 world rankings in finals of the women’s 100 fly, topping the competition with a time of 58.40.<\/p>\n Teammate\u00a0Kendyl Stewart<\/strong>\u00a0finished second overall with a time of 58.81, followed by China’s\u00a0Yang Junxuan’s\u00a0<\/strong>59.90.<\/p>\n Josiah Binnema<\/strong> of UBCSC flew to victory in the men’s 100 fly with a time of 53.69, finishing .68 seconds ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n UCSB’s\u00a0Mason Tittle<\/strong> took second overall with a 54.37, just ahead of Tucson Ford’s\u00a0Chatham Dobbs’<\/strong> 54.70.<\/p>\n Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson<\/strong>\u00a0posted a strong victory in the women’s 200 IM, slicing 2.89 seconds off her prelims time of 2:18.22 to finish first with a 2:15.33.<\/p>\n Picking up second was\u00a0Riley Scott<\/strong> with a time of 2:!6.06, while\u00a0Emily Overholt<\/strong> and Tatum Wade\u00a0<\/strong>concluded the podium with a tie for third at 2:17.80.<\/p>\n China’s\u00a0Wang Yizhe<\/strong> posted a top finish of 2:00.64 in the men’s 200 IM, while second place went to Phoenix Swim Club’s\u00a0Takeharu Fujimori<\/strong> and his time of 2:01.04.<\/p>\n Jarod Arroyo<\/strong> of Pitchfork grabbed third overall with a 2:05.16.<\/p>\n Stewart and Moffitt topped the women’s sprint fly events again, but this time Stewart claimed victory with a top time of 26.45 in the 50.
