{"id":314622,"date":"2018-06-16T10:34:19","date_gmt":"2018-06-16T17:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=314622"},"modified":"2018-06-16T10:34:19","modified_gmt":"2018-06-16T17:34:19","slug":"legendary-australian-coach-ken-wood-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/legendary-australian-coach-ken-wood-passes-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Legendary Australian Coach Ken Wood Passes Away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association have announced the passing of legendary coach\u00a0<strong>Ken Wood<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Wood was the coach of a number of Australian and Chinese athletes, including ISHOF inductee\u00a0<strong>Leisel Jones<\/strong>, former World Record holder\u00a0<strong>Ye Shiwen<\/strong>, Olympian\u00a0<strong>Kylie Palmer<\/strong>, Olympian and World Record holder\u00a0<strong>Liu Zige<\/strong>, open water World Champion\u00a0<strong>Melissa Gorman<\/strong>, and Olympian <strong>Jessica Schipper<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>While he coached Schipper from childhood through the 2008 Beijing Olympics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jessicah-schipper-leaves-coach-ken-wood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the two split ways<\/a> following Liu Zige&#8217;s upset win over Schipper in the 200 fly.
