Day three of the 2018 Charlotte UltraSwim, hosted by SwimMAC Carolina, continued with athletes participating in eight different Olympic events. Many of last night’s top stars, including Anton Ipsen, Veronica Burchill, Rachel Bernhardt<\/strong>, and more,\u00a0picked up top seeds this morning to add to their medal haul from the previous night.<\/p>\n

Veronica Burchill<\/strong>\u00a0of Athens Bulldog opened the third morning of the Charlotte UltraSwim with a first-place seed in the women’s 200 free. Burchill posted a time of 2:02.38 to lead the qualifiers, followed closely by Cavalier Swimming’s\u00a0Paige Madden<\/strong> (2:02.92). Madden’s teammate\u00a0Megan Moroney<\/strong> rounded out the top three qualifiers with a 2:03.13.<\/p>\n

One night after winning the 400 free, Anton Ipsen<\/strong> of Wolfpack Elite topped the prelims competition in the men’s 200 free. Ipsen posted a time of 1:52.89 to qualify first, followed by Tennessee’s\u00a0Walker Higgins<\/strong> (1:53.61) and SwimMAC’s\u00a0John Walker<\/strong> (1:54.81).<\/p>\n

Gamecock’s\u00a0Rachel Bernhardt<\/strong> continues to be the woman to beat in the breaststroke events, picking up the top seed in the 200 breast with a 2:35.98. Teammate\u00a0Emily Barksdale<\/strong> qualified second with a 2:36.90, while Athens Bulldog’s\u00a0Alexis Glunn<\/strong> was third with a 2:37.80.<\/p>\n

Nils Wich-Glasen<\/strong> and GTAC’s\u00a0Max Iida<\/strong> posted close times in the men’s 200 breast to qualify 1-2 for tonight’s final. Wich-Glasen turned in a 2:22.77 for the first-place seed, while Iida returns as second with a 2:22.96.\u00a0Connor Dalbo<\/strong> of Marlins of Raleigh took third in prelims with a 2:23.69.<\/p>\n

Auburn’s\u00a0Alyssa Tetzloff<\/strong> flew to the top of the qualifier’s list in the women’s 100 fly, stopping the clock at a time of 1:00.77. Burchill posted a 1:01.15 to qualify second, just ahead of SwimMAC’s\u00a0Julia Menkhaus<\/strong> and her 1:01.37.<\/p>\n

Santiago Grassi<\/strong> continued his Auburn’s top times in the 100 fly with a 54.43 first-place seed in the men’s event. Athens Bulldog’s\u00a0Camden Murphy<\/strong> turned in a 54.79 for the second-place seed, followed by Wolfpack’s\u00a0Justin Ress<\/strong> and his time of 54.95.<\/p>\n

Hennessey Stuart<\/strong> of Wolfpack Elite dominated the men’s 200 back prelims, finishing more than five seconds ahead of the competition with a 2:01.18.\u00a0Christopher Thames<\/strong>, swimming unattached, grabbed the second-place seed with a 2:06.62, just ahead of Athens Bulldog’s Talmadge Davis’\u00a0<\/strong>2:06.81.<\/p>\n
