SANTA CLARITA, California, July 29. PALO Alto Stanford rolled to the combined team victory Sunday night as the pool swimming portion of the sectional meet concluded. Palo Alto earned 1,604 points, ahead of Aquazot (1,091) and De Anza Cupertino (1,008). Tomorrow's open water 5K swim will officially conclude the meet. <\/p>\n
Irvine Nova's Courtney Mykkanen brought home the first title of the night, winning the women's 100m back in a swift time of 1:04.39, just .19 in front of De Anza Cupertino's Laurence Delisle (1:04.58). Marin Pirates' Cali Raukar claimed third place honors in 1:05.18. In the men's 100m back final, Peak Swimming's Fabricio Soto Ramirez got to the wall first in 57.27, slightly ahead of Palo Alto Stanford's Jeremie Dezwirek (57.89). Peak Swimming's Tom Kremer, a four-time champion already at this meet, took third in 58.28. <\/p>\n
Gretchen Jaques of Brea Aquatics swam the only time under 1:12 with a 1:11.76 to win the women's 100m breast by about half a second over Tule Nation's Mallory Korenwinder (1:12.21). Riley Scott of Marin Pirates took third in 1:12.29. The men's 100m breast turned into a race between three swimmers, as Canyons' Nick Korth, Roadrunner Aquatics' Andy Castilleja and Riverside Aquatics Association's Bryan Haile. Haile turned first at the 50m mark, but at the final touch it went to Korth in 1:04.79. Castilleja snuck in for second at 1:04.88, while Haile wound up third in 1:04.95.<\/p>\n
Olivia Barker of Sandpipers of Nevada, already a winner of the 200m fly, brought home another title in the women's 100m fly, winning comfortably in 1:01.66. Fifty free champ Rachael Acker of Palo Alto Stanford took second in 1:02.15, while Ella Eastin of Irvine Nova, winner of both individual medleys, took third in 1:02.29. On the men's side, Class Aquatics' Chase Bloch won by six tenths in 54.70, with Peak Swimming's Tom Kremer in second at 55.30. Erich Peske, competing unattached, was right behind in 55.31. <\/p>\n
The 400m medley relays wrapped up the competition. Palo Alto Stanford's Ally Howe, Jasmine Tosky, Jennifer Campbell and Rachael Acker recorded the top time in the women's race at 4:18.04, while Class Aquatics, represented by Chase Bloch, Hunter Cobleigh, Yu-Bin Kim and Michael Wen had the best men's time at 3:53.65.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
