MINNEAPOLIS \u2013 Minnesota men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving head coach Kelly Kremer<\/strong> announced the addition of transfers Katherine Wagner<\/strong> and Emily Cook<\/strong> to the Gophers\u2019 roster, Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really excited to have both Katherine and Emily on campus this fall. Katherine\u2019s range will help fill a need in our freestyle group, while Emily is a great fit for our team and such a strong backstroker.\u201d<\/p>\n

A native of Chatsworth, Calif., Wagner comes to Minnesota from Arizona State and will have two seasons of eligibility. Wagner is primarily a sprint freestyler. She recorded her 50-yard freestyle personal best 22.54 last season at the Pac 12 Championships. Other personal-record times include 49.41 in the 100 free and 1:49.82 in the 200 free.<\/p>\n

\u201cI choose the University of Minnesota because of their top tier academic and athletic programs,\u201d said Wagner. The amazing staff and team made me feel like I was at home. Minnesota is such a beautiful place and I can\u2019t wait to spend the next two years competing alongside and incredible team and staff!\u201d<\/p>\n

Cook comes to Minneapolis after one season at Washington State. A native of Portland, Ore., Cook will be a great addition to the Gophers backstroke events. Cook set a Washington State school record at the Pac 12 Championship touching the wall in 53.66 in the 100 back where she placed 11th. In the 200 back she holds a personal top time of 1:57.57.<\/p>\n
