The final morning session of the TYR Pro Swim Series in Santa Clara, Calif., featured action in the 400 free as well as the 50s of each stroke.\u00a0Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>was the top seed in the women’s 400 free, while Stanford teammate\u00a0Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>took the top spot in the women’s 50 free.<\/p>\n

As for\u00a0Caeleb Dressel<\/strong>, he was first in the 50 fly heats but did not swim in the 50 free.<\/p>\n

Women’s 400 Free<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to a 4:04.06 in prelims to earn the top seed for finals. She could make a run at a sub-4:00 effort in the finals session after swimming a 3:57.94, the second-fastest time in history, at the last stop of the TYR Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis last month.<\/p>\n

Tucson Ford’s\u00a0Leah Smith<\/strong>, the silver medalist behind Ledecky at last summer’s World Championships, qualified second in 4:07.50, and St. Petersburg’s\u00a0Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 4:10.87. Swim Ontario’s\u00a0Kennedy Goss\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth (4:14.21), followed by Ledecky’s Stanford teammate\u00a0Katie Drabot\u00a0<\/strong>(4:14.58) and York YMCA’s\u00a0Courtney Harnish\u00a0<\/strong>(4:!6.12).<\/p>\n

Riptide’s\u00a0Regan Smith<\/strong>, already the winner of both backstroke events and the runner-up in the 200 fly in Santa Clara, turned in a seventh-place time of 4:16.75, and she was followed by Mission Viejo’s\u00a0Ashley Neidigh\u00a0<\/strong>(4:16.86) and Mexico’s\u00a0Ayumi Macias Alba\u00a0<\/strong>(4:19.61).<\/p>\n

Women’s 50 Fly<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Cardinal’s\u00a0Kelsi Dahlia\u00a0<\/strong>posted the top time in the 50 fly prelims to head into the three-round shoot-out in finals. Dahlia swam a time of 26.24 to beat out Cal teammates\u00a0Farida Osman\u00a0<\/strong>(26.54) and\u00a0Katie McLaughlin<\/strong> (26.83). Swim Ontario’s\u00a0Penny Oleksiak<\/strong>, the Olympic silver medalist in the 100 fly, took fourth in 26.93.<\/p>\n

Caeleb Dressel<\/strong>, already with wins in the 100 fly and 100 free in Santa Clara, cruised to a 23.59 in the 50 fly prelims to easily top Phoenix Swim Club’s\u00a0Giles Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(23.82) and Tiger Elite’s\u00a0Luis Martinez<\/strong> (23.87). NCAP’s\u00a0Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>also broke 24, qualifying fourth in 23.94.<\/p>\n
Team Elite’s\u00a0Marcus Schlesinger\u00a0<\/strong>(24.25), King’s\u00a0Roman Rybin<\/strong> (24.31), Team Elite’s\u00a0Marius Kusch\u00a0<\/strong>(24.38), Longhorn’s\u00a0Tripp Cooper\u00a0<\/strong>(24.39) and Swim Ontario’s\u00a0Alexandre Perreault\u00a0<\/strong>(24.40) also made the final.<\/p>\n

Canada’s Kylie Masse<\/strong>, the world record-holder in the 100 back, recorded the top prelims time of 28.01, and Club Wolverine’s\u00a0Ali DeLoof\u00a0<\/strong>was right behind in 28.42.\u00a0Athens Bulldog’s\u00a0Olivia Smoliga<\/strong>, who set the American record in the 50 back (27.43) at the last Pro Swim Series shootout in Mesa, Ariz., qualified third in 28.69.<\/p>\n

Coming off impressive wins in both the 100 and 200 back, Cal’s\u00a0Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>recored the top prelims time in the 50 back at 25.45, He finished five hundredths ahead of Tucson Ford’s\u00a0Matt Grevers<\/strong>, and Swim Ontario’s\u00a0Javier Acevedo\u00a0<\/strong>was third (25.72). Cal’s\u00a0Daniel Carr\u00a0<\/strong>(25.73) and Team Elite’s\u00a0Ryosuke Irie\u00a0<\/strong>(25.92) also broke 25.<\/p>\n

Other finalists will include Mexico’s\u00a0Ricardo Vargas Jacobo\u00a0<\/strong>(3:55.18), Stanford’s\u00a0True Sweetser\u00a0<\/strong>(3:55.60), North Texas Nadadores’\u00a0Jack Levant\u00a0<\/strong>(3:56.01), Stanford’s\u00a0Grant Shoults\u00a0<\/strong>(3:56.31), Longhorn’s\u00a0Clark Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(3:56.53) and South Korea’s\u00a0Koo Kiwoong<\/strong>\u00a0(3:58.58).<\/p>\n

Lilly King<\/strong> wore a practice suit for her 50 breast prelims race, but it didn’t stop her from qualifying first in 31.61. She and Mexico’s\u00a0Melissa Rodriguez<\/strong> (31.97) were the only swimmers to crack 32 in the morning session.<\/p>\n
Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 32.23, followed by Lakeside’s\u00a0Kennedy Lohman\u00a0<\/strong>(32.93) and Santa Clara Swim Club’s\u00a0Jordan Morgan\u00a0<\/strong>(32.94). Men’s 50 Breast<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Athens Bulldog’s\u00a0Nic Fink\u00a0<\/strong>touched out Tiger Elite’s\u00a0Kevin Cordes\u00a0<\/strong>in the final heat of the 50 breast to capture the top seed for the final. Fink swam a time of 27.66, followed closely by Cordes in 27.74 and Longhorn’s\u00a0Andrew Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>in 27.97.<\/p>\n

Finishing just behind that duo was another Stanford swimmer,\u00a0Lia Neal<\/strong>, in 25.41. Cal’s\u00a0Katie McLaughlin<\/strong> (25.55) and SwimMAC’s\u00a0Madison Kennedy\u00a0<\/strong>(25.57) were close behind.<\/p>\n

Adrian, who was 15th in the 100 free prelims before winning hte B-final in 48.99, recorded a time of 22.39 to edge out teammate and No. 2 seed\u00a0Michael Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>(22.56).<\/p>\n
