She could make a run at a sub-4:00 effort in the finals session after swimming a 3:57.94, the second-fastest time in history, at the last stop of the TYR Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis last month.<\/p>\n<p>Tucson Ford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Leah Smith<\/strong>, the silver medalist behind Ledecky at last summer&#8217;s World Championships, qualified second in 4:07.50, and St. Petersburg&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 4:10.87. Dahlia swam a time of 26.24 to beat out Cal teammates\u00a0<strong>Farida Osman\u00a0<\/strong>(26.54) and\u00a0<strong>Katie McLaughlin<\/strong> (26.83). She and Mexico&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Melissa Rodriguez<\/strong> (31.97) were the only swimmers to crack 32 in the morning session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 32.23, followed by Lakeside&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kennedy Lohman\u00a0<\/strong>(32.93) and Santa Clara Swim Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jordan Morgan\u00a0<\/strong>(32.94).
