Following behind were World Junior Champion <strong>Regan Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.57), Olympic and World Champs finalist\u00a0<strong>Olivia Smoliga\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.81) and Canadian world record-holder\u00a0<strong>Kylie Masse\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.91), setting up what should be a tight final with multiple sub-1:00 performances possible.<\/p>\n<p>Carmel&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Claire Adams\u00a0<\/strong>qualified fifth in 1:01.53, and Aquajets&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Isabelle Stadden\u00a0<\/strong>was sixth in 1:01.71, just ahead of Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Amy Bilquist\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.73). Cardinal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Dahlia<\/strong>, the winner of the 100 fly Friday evening, took third in 2:12.08.<\/p>\n<p>Riptide&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith<\/strong>, already with a 200 back win in her pocket, qualified for her second final of the day in 2:12.42, followed by 18-year-old World Championship semifinalist\u00a0<strong>Dakota Luther\u00a0<\/strong>(2:13.00). Kalisz has won the 200 fly at all four previous TYR Pro Swim Series stops this season, but this evening&#8217;s final shold be a battle.<\/p>\n<p>Poseidon&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Trenton Julian\u00a0<\/strong>was close behind the top two in 1:59.31, and\u00a0Tucson Ford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Justin Wright\u00a0<\/strong>and Nation&#8217;s Capital&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>tied for fourth in 1:59.52. Also under 2:00 were Athens Bulldog&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Pace Clark\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.81), Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zheng Quah\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.84) and Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tom Shields\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.99). Manuel finished in 53.93 and Neal in 53.95.\u00a0<strong>Margo Geer\u00a0<\/strong>(53.74) is the only other American to crack 54 so far this season.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong>, who shared Olympic gold with Manuel in 2016, qualified third in 54.28, and Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>took fourth in 54.82. Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie McLaughlin\u00a0<\/strong>swam a quick time of 54.93 for fifth, just ahead of teammate\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>(55.22).<\/p>\n<p>Sisters\u00a0<strong>Catie\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Gabby DeLoof\u00a0<\/strong>qualified seventh and ninth, respectively, with Catie swimming a time of 55.48 and Gabby coming in at 55.77. Missouri&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michael Chadwick\u00a0<\/strong>took fifth in 50.11.<\/p>\n<p>Ohio State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Josh Fleagle\u00a0<\/strong>qualified sixth in 50.16, and\u00a0World Champion\u00a0<strong>Caeleb Dressel\u00a0<\/strong>finished seventh in 50.24. Dressel, however, wore a practice suit in prelims and should have plenty of room for improvement in finals. Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>(50.35) and Mexico&#8217;s <strong>Long Gutierrez<\/strong> (50.37) also finished in the top nine.<\/p>\n<p>In a surprising finish, Cal&#8217;s <strong>Nathan Adrian\u00a0<\/strong>finished 15th in 50.57, one spot behind NOVA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Townley Haas<\/strong>\u00a0(50.50).
