EDMONTON, Canada, July 21. ANOTHER 1-2 finish by brothers Matthew and Jeffrey Swanston highlighted the third night of finals at the Edmonton Kinsmen Sport Centre. <\/p>\n
University of Calgary's Lindsay Delmar collected the first title up for grabs with a 4:17.40 in the women's 400m free. Sherry Liu of Hyack claimed second in 4:18.23, ahead of Heather Maitland of Toronto (4:18.73). Island Swimming's Jeremy Bagshaw took home the men's title in 3:52.16, a little over a second in front of Kier Maitland of Keyano (3:53.24). Chad Bobrosky of Cascade posted a 3:55.20 to finish third. <\/p>\n
Vancouver's Noemie Thomas, winner of the 200m fly last night, picked up the 100m fly tonight with the only sub-1:00 performance, a 59.12. Mackenzie Downing of WGB took second in 1:00.41. U of A Swim Club's Kendra Chernoff rounded out the top three in 1:00.75. Jake Tapp of Langley Olympians just edged Vancouver's Coleman Allen in the men's race, 54.47 to 54.49. Kourosh Ahani of the RHAC Predators completed the podium finishers in 54.64. <\/p>\n
Rouge Et Or's Genevieve Cantin earned her first victory of the meet after posting the fastest time of 2:11.34 in the women's 200m back. Dominique Bouchard, who was aiming for the backstroke triple, settled for second in 2:12.00. Lauren Lavigna of Vancouver placed third in 2:13.24. After finishing 1-2 in the 50m back last night, Newmarket Stingray brothers Jeffrey and Matthew Swanston swapped places tonight in the 200m, with Jeffrey winning in 2:00.45 and Matthew finishing second in 2:00.85. Chad Bobrosky brought home his second medal of the night in 2:01.32.<\/p>\n
Two sprint events, the men's and women's 50m breast, closed out the individual event portion of the evening. Marie-Solei Jean-Lachapelle of Club Aquatique of Montreal swam the only time under 32 seconds with a 31.99. Chelsey Salli of Langley Olympians took second in 32.04, followed closely by Pointe-Claire's Ashley McGregor (32.06). Keyano's Richard Funk backed up his win last night in the 100m breast with a 27.97 in the 50m breast tonight. Jason Block of University of Calgary swam a 28.38 for second, in front of Simon Fraser's Andrew Poznikoff (28.43). <\/p>\n
Vancouver's Brittney Harley, Noemie Thomas, Samantha Corea and Lauren Lavigna posted the fastest time in the women's 400m free relay in 3:49.99, while their teammates, Sergey Holson, Coleman Allen, Duncan Furrer and Kelly Aspinall, topped the men's field in 3:27.45, matching the time of Island Swimming. <\/p>\n
