THE CSRVIII Summer Long Course Speedo Champions Series kicked off last night at the Mizzou Aquatic Center, and four swimmers &#8212; Haley Molden, Rachel Ripley, Andre Koop and Eegan Groome &#8212; each have two wins to their credit. <\/p>\n<p>Last night, Topeka Swim Association&#039;s Haley Molden got the meet off to a fast start with a 56.83 in the women&#039;s 100m free, almost a second ahead of Parkway&#039;s Taylor Wohrley (57.68). Lauren Votava of Rockwood and Hannah Musser of Kansas City Blazers posted matching 57.90s for third. Paul Le of Missouri State won the men&#039;s 100m free in a much closer race &#8212; just .03 in front of Rec Plex&#039;s Andrew Sansoucie. Le touched in 51.44 while Sansoucie posted a 51.47. Luke Snow, also out of Missouri State, placed third in 52.48.<\/p>\n<p>University of Missouri teammates Rachel Ripley and Danielle Spradlin took advantage of the home crowd and familiar pool, placing first and second in the women&#039;s 200m breast in 2:33.31 and 2:38.73, respectively. Jennifer Holtzen of Razorback Aquatics rounded out the top three in 2:39.09. Igor Kozlovskij kept the ball rolling for Mizzou with a new meet record in the men&#039;s 200m breast, touching in 2:16.98. That lowered Michael Bruce&#039;s record of 2:20.52 from 2000. Gage Crosby of Razorback Aquatics also broke the previous record with a 2:17.20, as did Tsunami&#039;s Christopher Novak (2:19.49). <\/p>\n<p>Taylor Wohrley returned from a second place finish in the 100m free to win the women&#039;s 200m back easily in 2:16.08. Topeka&#039;s Sammie Schurig touched second in 2:18.89, while CSP Tideriders&#039; Sarah Finlay picked up third in 2:20.09. Andre Koop of Kansas City Blazers, the only swimmer over age 20 in the entire finals field, won the men&#039;s title in 2:05.32. Paul Le earned his second medal of the night with a 2:07.29 for second, while Benjamin Scheffer of Kansas City claimed third in 2:07.59. <\/p>\n<p>In distance freestyle action, Jennifer Holtzen earned the victory in the women&#039;s 800m free in 9:01.37, followed by Sara Lopez of Kansas City Blazers (9:05.59) and Rebecca Swank of Kansas (9:05.87). Missouri&#039;s Eegan Groome won the men&#039;s event in a close race over Arkansas Dolphins&#039; Minki Kang, 8:22.66 to 8:22.94. Tyler Fowler of Tsunami Swim Team came in third with an 8:23.72. <\/p>\n<p>In tonight&#039;s finals action, Topeka&#039;s Haley Molden won her second individual event of the meet, posting a 2:03.21 to win the women&#039;s 200m free. Katarine Sickle of the Kansas City Blazers challenged the entire way but couldn&#039;t make up the deficit, finishing in 2:03.49. Taylor Wohrley of Parkway touched third in 2:06.10. Eegan Groome of Missouri also added a second win to his resume, collecting the men&#039;s 200m free title in 1:52.61. Benjamin Bravence finished second in 1:54.07, while Sean Feher of Rockwood Swim Club touched third in 1:55.25. <\/p>\n<p>Missouri&#039;s Rachel Ripley added the 400m IM title to her win in the 200m breast last night with a 4:57.01. Jessie Garrison of Arkansas Dolphins (4:59.24) and Jennifer Holtzen of Razorback Aquatics (4:59.64) also dipped under five minutes to finish second and third. Kansas City&#039;s Andre Koop, already a winner in the 200m back yesterday, picked up the men&#039;s distance medley title in 4:31.90. Teammates Louis Behnen (4:35.29) and Michael Glenn (4:37.21) made it a 1-2-3 sweep for the Blazers. <\/p>\n<p>Parkway&#039;s Heather Lundstrom had the fastest second 50m of anyone en route to a win in the women&#039;s 100m fly in 1:02.25. Kansas Aquatics&#039; Sofiia Filatova touched second in 1:02.53, while Kimberly Jasmer of Columbia Swim Club garnered third in 1:02.93. After placing second in the 100m free yesterday, Rec Plex&#039;s Andrew Sansoucie moved up a step on the podium to first after swimming a 54.48 in the men&#039;s 100m fly. Igor Kozlovskij picked up his second medal of the meet with a 55.40, while Jason King of Tsunami placed third in 55.79. <\/p>\n<p>In relay action, Rockwood Swim Club&#039;s Jordan Stout, Jessica Holz, Lauren Votava and Tennyson Henry claimed the women&#039;s 400m free relay in 3:55.43, while Missouri State&#039;s Paul Le, Luke Snow, Isaac McKnight and Jacob Sims won the men&#039;s relay in 3:27.68.
