GREENSBORO, North Carolina, July 14. SWIMMAC Carolina's Andrea Georoff and Cardinal Aquatics' Carlos Almeida each won their second event of the meet, while several close finishes highlighted the third night of finals in Greensboro. <\/p>\n
Tonight's finals session got off to a rousing start after an exciting race in the women's 400m free. North Carolina's Jackie Rudolph held the lead the entire way, but Dynamo's Kylie Stewart made it very interesting at the end, closing the gap on Rudolph over the last 100m. At the wall, Rudolph edged Stewart, 4:20.64 to 4:20.66. Lakeside's Bryn Handley came in a distant third at 4:26.42. In the men's race, North Carolina's Brett Nagle just missed breaking the 4-minute mark, but his 4:00.07 still topped SwimAtlanta's Cody Reul by more than two seconds (4:02.75). Nate Bond of Lakeside turned in a 4:04.91 for third. <\/p>\n
SwimMAC Carolina's Andrea Georoff collected her second win of the meet with a convincing victory in the women's 100m fly. She swam a 1:00.61 to easily outdistance North Carolina's Meredith Hoover (1:02.76) and SwimAtlanta's Megan Bestor (1:02.94). Lucas Gerotto of Wildcat Aquatics topped the men's field with a 54.44. Pedro Oliveira of Cardinal Aquatics (55.61) and John Newell of New South (55.93) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n
In the women's 100m breast, Savannah's Elizabeth Roberts took the race out quickly and held on at the finish, out-touching Delaware Swim Team's Katie Rechsteiner, 1:12.17 to 1:12.32. Lakeside picked up another podium finish with Kennedy Lohman in third (1:13.63). Cardinal Aquatics' Carlos Almeida picked up his second win of the meet, touching in 1:02.26 to win the men's 100m breast. Nelson Westby of SwimMAC Carolina wouldn't give up easily, however, as he hung with Almeida the entire way and finishd in 1:02.29. Jake Matysek of Silver Bullet Elite touched third in 1:05.16.<\/p>\n
Dynamo's foursome of Kathleen Cook, Alli Crenshaw, Haley Durmer and Kylie Stewart posted the fastest time in the women's 4x200m free relay at 8:32.52. Lakeside (8:35.83) and Dynamo (8:40.28) came in second and third. Lakeside's quartet of Tyler Sullivan, Branson Smith, Nate Bond and Jake Schultz took home the men's title in 7:52.13, ahead of Dynamo (7:58.58) and Mount Pleasant (8:00.15). <\/p>\n
