WEST POINT, NY, Dec. 8. SENIOR Kevin Volz won both the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle races as Princeton's men's swimming and diving team cruised to a 144-92 win at Army on Saturday. The Tigers won each of the first six events with 1-2-3-4 finishes in four events. <\/p>\n
Volz led a Tiger sweep in the 1,000 free with his time of 9:23.12. Sophomore Kevin Weiner took second (9:33.86) and freshman Pat Gremban finished third (9:44.13). Junior Jesse Gage found himself in first once again, winning both the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Gage swam a 21.17 in the 50 and registered a time of 46.54 in the 100. <\/p>\n
Freshman Justin Chiles won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.88 as Weiner led the Princeton charge in the 200-yard butterfly. Weiner finished first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.17, ahead of teammate Kevin Walsh, who finished second with a time of 1:54.33. <\/p>\n
Tiger divers witnessed a career-best performance from Army diver Matt Lofton, who won both the 1- and 3-meter boards. Princeton's Nick Lee finished second on both boards, registering 299.48 points on the 1-meter and 287.18 points on the 3-meter. <\/p>\n
Princeton is now 4-0 in dual-meet competition and is fresh off a first-place finish in the Princeton Invitational. The Tigers are off for the remainder of the calendar year and return to action on Jan. 27 when they host Dartmouth at DeNunzio Pool.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
