TUSCALOOSA, Ala. \u2013 A pair of Alabama student-athletes, gymnast Mackenzie Brannan<\/strong> and swimmer Luke Kaliszak<\/strong>, have earned NCAA Winter Postgraduate Scholarships the NCAA announced recently.<\/u><\/u><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

Both Brannan and Kaliszak are finalists for the H. Boyd McWhorter Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned multiple All-America and Academic All-America honors during their careers. They also both earned their undergraduate degrees \u2013 Brannan with a 4.0 grade point average in psychology and Kaliszak with a 3.98 in pre-med \u2013 during Alabama\u2019s spring commencement.<\/u><\/u><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

Brannan, an SEC and NCAA regional champion, is the 20th Crimson Tide gymnast to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, a mark that stands as the most in collegiate gymnastics history. The Austin, Texas, native helped lead Alabama to four NCAA championship appearances, three NCAA regional titles and the 2015 SEC crown.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Kaliszak, an SEC and NCAA champion, is the ninth member of Alabama\u2019s swimming and diving program to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The Huntsville, Ala., native led Alabama to four-consecutive NCAA top-15 team finishes, including three-straight in the top 10. He was also part of Alabama\u2019s first NCAA champion relay in 2016.<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

With two scholarships already this season, Alabama student-athletes have now earned at least one NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship the last 17 years in a row, dating back to 2002. That stretch includes 11-consecutive years with multiple scholarship winners, highlighted by a school-record seven in 2014. Overall, Alabama students have earned 64 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships since football\u2019s Steve Davis earned the Tide\u2019s first in 1968. <\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
