SO far, six of the potential 16 bid cities for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials have been made public, with the rest keeping their cards close to their chests.<\/p>\n<p>As Chuck Wielgus first detailed in his pre-2012 Trials press conference, 16 cities have made their intentions known to USA Swimming that they would like to be in the running for hosting duties. Also, this is the first time that USA Swimming has been speaking primarily to business partners within each city, and not just the swimming-specific people as cities have seen the positive financial impact hosting Trials can have on a city. Omaha has been the beneficiary of this influx of swimming tourist cash the past two meets.<\/p>\n<p><b>Chuck Wielgus press conference<\/b><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/blip.tv\/play\/hKkHgvvYIwI.html?p=1\" width=\"480\" height=\"326\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Part of the difficulty in putting a bid together, even for cities like a Los Angeles that could host an Omaha-like arena competition in a facility like the Staples Center, is that USA Swimming requires complete ownership of the facility for a month. On top of Trials preparation, USA Swimming also runs a test event a month before Trials to make sure everything is on board.<\/p>\n<p><b>Public bid cities so far<\/b><br \/>\nGreensboro, N.C.<br \/>\nIndianapolis, Ind.<br \/>\nJacksonville, Fla.<br \/>\nLong Beach, Calif.<br \/>\nLouisville, Ky.<br \/>\nOmaha, Neb.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>COLORADO SPRING, Colorado, July 8.
