{"id":311264,"date":"2018-05-24T12:36:30","date_gmt":"2018-05-24T19:36:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=311264"},"modified":"2018-05-24T12:41:12","modified_gmt":"2018-05-24T19:41:12","slug":"charlotte-bonnet-adds-another-event-for-european-championships-at-french-nationals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/charlotte-bonnet-adds-another-event-for-european-championships-at-french-nationals\/","title":{"rendered":"Charlotte Bonnet Adds Another Event For European Championships at French Nationals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the third evening of the 2018 French Nationals in Saint Raphael,\u00a0<strong>Charlotte Bonnet\u00a0<\/strong>as well as\u00a0<strong>David Aubry<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Damien Joly<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Stanislas Huille<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Paul-Gabriel Bedel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Maxence Orange<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Marie Wattel<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Margaux Fabre\u00a0<\/strong>picked up the necessary qualifying times for the European Championships at the end of the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a list of who is qualified already for European Championships for the French team:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>David<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Aubry<\/strong>, 400 free, 1500<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Paul-Gabriel Bedel<\/em><\/strong><em>, 100 back<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Theo<\/strong> <strong>Bussiere<\/strong>, 100 breast<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Roman Fuchs<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<em>400 free<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Stanislas Huille<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<em>100 back<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Damien<\/strong> <strong>Joly<\/strong>, 1500<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Mehdy Metella<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<em>100 free<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Maxence Orange<\/strong>, 100 back<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Nans<\/strong> <strong>Roch<\/strong>, 200 fly<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Jeremy Stravius<\/strong><\/em>, <em>50 back,<\/em>\u00a0<em>100 free<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong>, 50 free, 200 free<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Mathilde Cini<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<em>50 back<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Fanny<\/strong> <strong>Deberghes<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<em>100 breast<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Cyrielle Duhamel<\/strong><\/em><em>, 400 IM<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Margaux Fabre<\/strong>, 200 free<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Beryl Gastaldello<\/strong><\/em>, <em>50 back<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Lara Grangeon<\/strong>, 400 IM<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Anouchka Martin<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<em>50 free<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Marie Wattel<\/strong>, 100 fly, 200 free<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 1500 Free<\/h3>\n<p><em>Qualifying standard: 15:07.71<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>David Aubry<\/strong>, 15:01.85<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Damien Joly<\/strong>, 15:03.61<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Logan Fontaine<\/strong>, 15:13.41<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paul Beaugrand<\/strong>, 15:26.21<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Aubry and Joly were both under the European Championships qualification in the heats (15:07.71) as both guys went 15:03 in the heats. Aubry went just a little bit faster and dipped down to a 15:01 as Joly stayed at a 15:03. Joly was a little off his French record of 14:48.90 from the heats of the 2016 Olympics, but he will have another chance at the European Championships in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Fly<\/h3>\n<p><em>Qualifying standard: 2:11.85<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lara Grangeon<\/strong>, 2:12.53<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sharon Van Rouwendaal<\/strong>, NED, 2:12.77<\/li>\n<li><strong>Juliette Marchand<\/strong>, 2:16.36<\/li>\n<li><strong>Camille Wishaupt<\/strong>, 2:18.36<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Grangeon was a 2:12 in the heats and in the finals and missed the qualifying standard of 2:11. Grangeon is already on the European Championships team in the 400 IM so her 200 fly miss is not the end of the world. Grangeon had a good race with Dutch national teamer\u00a0<strong>Sharon Van Rouwendaal\u00a0<\/strong>who is swimming at the French Championships because she trains in Montpellier.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Back<\/h3>\n<p><em>Qualifying standard: 54.86<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Stanislas Huille<\/strong>, 54.39<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Paul-Gabriel Bedel<\/strong>, 54.45<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Maxence Orange,<\/strong> 54.48<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Geoffroy Mathieu<\/strong>, 55.93<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All top three finishers in the men&#8217;s 100 back were under the 54.86 standard in the heats and again in the finals, allowing\u00a0<strong>Stanislas Huille<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Paul-Gabriel Bedel<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Maxence Orange\u00a0<\/strong>to punch their tickets to the European Championships. The coaches will have a lot of fun trying to pick their lead off for the 4&#215;100 medley relay in Glasgow as France is still looking for their backstroker after the retirement of World Champion\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/camille-lacourt-plans-to-retire-after-world-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Camille Lacourt<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h3>\n<p><em>Qualifying standard: 2:00.06<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong>, 1:55.53<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Marie Wattel<\/strong>, 1:58.18<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Margaux Fabre<\/strong>, 1:58.47<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Alizee Morel<\/strong>, 2:00.45<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Charlotte Bonnet\u00a0<\/strong>swam a very impressive 1:55.53 in the 200 free final as she was well under the qualifying standard. She was a little off of the 1:54.66 French Record held by the late\u00a0<strong>Camille Muffat\u00a0<\/strong>from 2012. Bonnet will be joined in Glasgow by\u00a0<strong>Marie Wattel\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Margaux Fabre\u00a0<\/strong>as those two were under 2:00.06 in the heats and in the finals. France is one person shy of completing a 4&#215;200 free relay but will probably find someone by the end of the summer for Europeans.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Breast<\/h3>\n<p><em>Qualifying standard: 2:12.75<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jeremy Desplanches<\/strong>, SUI, 2:12.30<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thomas Boursac<\/strong>, 2:13.78<\/li>\n<li><strong>Antoine Marc<\/strong>, 2:13.93<\/li>\n<li><strong>Antoine Viquerat<\/strong>, 2:14.03<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Swiss swimmer\u00a0<strong>Jeremy Desplanches\u00a0<\/strong>who is based in Nice, swam a 2:12.30 to win the 200 breast final. The highest placing French swimmer\u00a0<strong>Thomas Boursac\u00a0<\/strong>who was a 2:13.78, a little off the 2:12.75 required standard.
