The final morning of the 2018 TYR Pro Swim Series meet in Indianapolis had eight events in total. Stanford and Georgia came to play with the likes of\u00a0Katie Drabot<\/strong>,\u00a0Chase Kalisz<\/strong>,\u00a0Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>each posting solid in-season times in the prelims. Also swimmers from Indiana (Cody Miller\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Lilly King<\/strong>) led the way in their respective breaststroke events.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Fly<\/h3>\n

Stanford’s\u00a0Katie Drabot\u00a0<\/strong>dropped an impressive 2:08.38 from heat one in the prelims of the 200 fly from Indianapolis. Drabot is the top seed going into tonight and was the only swimmer along with\u00a0Hali Flickinger\u00a0<\/strong>(2:09.11) to break 2:10 this morning.<\/p>\n

NCAA swimmer of the year\u00a0Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>(2:10.17) and Cal commit<\/a>\u00a0Cassidy Bayer\u00a0<\/strong>(2:11.15) also had solid swims this morning and will be the third and fourth seeds tonight.<\/p>\n

Kelsi Dahlia\u00a0<\/strong>(2:11.40),\u00a0Leah Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.57),\u00a0Lauren Edelman\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.73) and\u00a0Hannah Kukurugya\u00a0<\/strong>(2:13.61) also placed in the top eight in the A-flight.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Fly<\/h3>\n

The Georgia duo of\u00a0Chase Kalisz\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Pace Clark\u00a0<\/strong>put up the top two times in the 200 fly heats at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis. Kalisz has been one of the nation’s best in-season swimmers and also one of the most consistent the last few years. Kalisz swam a 1:58.29 and Clark swam a 1:59.58 as those two were the only ones under two minutes this morning.<\/p>\n

Indiana’s\u00a0Cory Gambardella\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.23) and Northern Kentucky Clippers’\u00a0Brendan Meyer\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.88) are right behind them.\u00a0Nicolas Albiero\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.90),\u00a0Zach Harting\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.05),\u00a0Gunnar Bentz\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.12) and\u00a0Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.19) also qualified for the A-final.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n

Indiana rising senior\u00a0Lilly King<\/strong>posted the quickest 100 breast of the morning with a 1:07.81 as the world record holder is just ahead of another\u00a0<\/strong>Indiana commit<\/a>\u00a0Emily Weiss\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.02).<\/p>\n

Georgia’s versatile\u00a0Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>was the third seed with a 1:08.31. Margalis is one of the most versatile swimmers in the United States that almost goes unnoticed. She has shown the ability to final in the higher level national meets in both breaststrokes as well as the 200 free and the 400 IM.<\/p>\n

Miranda Tucker\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.42),\u00a0Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.55),\u00a0Bethany Galat\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.88),\u00a0Emily Escobedo\u00a0<\/strong>(1:10.37) and\u00a0Mariia Astashkina\u00a0<\/strong>(1:10.39) also will swim tonight after placing in the top eight after the A-flight.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n

Cody Miller\u00a0<\/strong>put up the top time in the morning at the TYR Pro Swim Series in the 100 breast with a 1:01.37. Miller is ahead of\u00a0Kevin Cordes\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Reece Whitley\u00a0<\/strong>who tied in their heat at 1:01.72. Fellow national team member\u00a0Nic Fink\u00a0<\/strong>placed fourth in the heats in Indianapolis at 1:02.35.<\/p>\n

Dom Polling\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.48),\u00a0Jacob Montague\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.62),\u00a0Evgenii Somov\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.70) and\u00a0Nick Zito\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.81) also placed in the top eight after the A-flight.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Back<\/h3>\n

Michigan and Club Wolverine’s\u00a0Ali DeLoof\u00a0<\/strong>leads the 100 back heats in Indianapolis with a 1:00.25 just ahead of Georgia’s\u00a0Olivia Smoliga\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.85). The field in the United States currently in backstroke is pretty crowded with the presence of\u00a0Kathleen Baker\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Regan Smith<\/strong>. Neither of those swimmers are in Indianapolis but DeLoof and Smoliga are still putting up solid times without them.<\/p>\n

Also in tonight’s A-final will be\u00a0Taylor Ruck\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.25) and\u00a0Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.63) as the latter is in an off event. Ruck has been under a minute before so she could challenge DeLoof and Smoliga tonight.<\/p>\n

Lisa Bratton\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.14),\u00a0Kennedy Goss\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.57),\u00a0Isabella Arcila\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.77) and\u00a0Asia Seidt\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.14) also placed in the top eight this morning after the A-flight.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Back<\/h3>\n

NC State’s\u00a0Justin Ress\u00a0<\/strong>and Cal’s\u00a0Jacob Pebley\u00a0<\/strong>were the top two seeds after this morning’s 100 back as both were under 55 seconds. Ress came in with a 54.46 and Pebley was behind him with a 54.80.<\/p>\n

Behind those two is a trio of swimmers that could be competitive tonight in\u00a0Grigory Tarasevich\u00a0<\/strong>(55.57),\u00a0Matt Grevers\u00a0<\/strong>(55.96) and\u00a0Nicolas Albiero\u00a0<\/strong>(56.45).<\/p>\n

Drew Kibler\u00a0<\/strong>(56.68),\u00a0Alex Boratto\u00a0<\/strong>(56.84) and\u00a0Ali Khalafalla\u00a0<\/strong>(57.01) also placed in the top eight after the A-flight.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 IM<\/h3>\n

Stanford’s\u00a0Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>and Georgia’s\u00a0Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to the top times in the 200 IM heats at the Indianapolis Pro Swim Series as Eastin swam a 2:12.97 ahead of Margalis’ 2:13.82. Eastin is coming off\u00a0one of the best NCAA meets<\/a> anyone has ever had where she set two American Records, as well as setting one earlier at the Pac-12 Championships in the 200 fly.<\/p>\n

Eastin has yet to make a national A team as this summer could finally be her breakout year.<\/p>\n

Eastin’s Stanford teammates\u00a0Brooke Forde\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.00) and\u00a0Allie Szekely\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.36) also placed in the top eight this morning after the A-flights.<\/p>\n

Reka Gyorgy\u00a0<\/strong>(2:15.63),\u00a0Kayla Sanchez\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.40),\u00a0Asia Seidt\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.71) and\u00a0Bethany Galat\u00a0<\/strong>(2:16.88) also placed in the top eight this morning.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 IM<\/h3>\n

No one really took a hard stroke in the heats of the 200 IM as the Georgia trio of\u00a0Jay Litherland\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.91),\u00a0Gunnar Bentz\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.20) and\u00a0Chase Kalisz\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.45) should all drop more time tonight. Litherland is actually the top seed tied with Louisville’s\u00a0Daniel Sos<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.91).<\/p>\n

Virginia Tech’s\u00a0Norbert Szabo\u00a0<\/strong>is the second Hungarian in the field after Sos and is the fourth seed ahead of Kalisz with a 2:03.22.<\/p>\n

Sam Iida\u00a0<\/strong>(2:04.08),\u00a0Metin Aydin\u00a0<\/strong>(2:04.47) and\u00a0Dom Polling\u00a0<\/strong>(2:05.47) also placed in the top eight after this morning’s A-flight.<\/p>\n
