While fast swims began two days ago in Indianapolis, the 2018 Atlanta Classic splashed into action this morning at the McAuley Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n

Ryan Lochte<\/strong> made his return to the 400 IM today with a top showing of 4:30.35, pretty impressive considering he also qualified in both the 200 free and 100 fly this morning.<\/p>\n

Michael Andrew<\/strong> posted a new meet record in the 100 breast and\u00a0Erika Brown<\/strong> flew ahead of the competition in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Free<\/h3>\n

Meaghan Raab<\/strong>\u00a0of Nashville Aquatic Club powered to the top seed in prelims of the women’s 200 free, posting the only sub-two minute time at a 1:59.90.<\/p>\n

Jordan Stout<\/strong>, representing Athens Bulldogs, turned in a 2:01.86 for the\u00a0second place seed, while Tennessee Aquatics teammates\u00a0Stanzi Moseley<\/strong>\u00a0(2:02.39) and\u00a0Erika Brown<\/strong>\u00a0(2:02.42) picked up third and fourth.<\/p>\n

Oakville’s\u00a0Tessa Cieplucha<\/strong> grabbed the fifth place seed with a 2:02.90, followed by Cavalier Swimming’s\u00a0Paige Madden’s<\/strong> 2:03.29.<\/p>\n

Samantha Porter<\/strong> (2:03.98), Marlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Maddie Homovich<\/strong> (2:04.37), Yellow Jacket’s\u00a0Emily Ilgenfritz<\/strong> (2:04.95), and Athens Bulldogs’\u00a0Sandra Scott<\/strong> (2:05.35) completed the top ten qualifiers.<\/p>\n

16-year-old\u00a0Jake Magahey<\/strong>\u00a0of SwimAtlanta bested the men’s 200 free preliminary field, claiming the top seed with a time of 1:51.85.<\/p>\n
Javier Acevedo<\/strong>\u00a0of Ajax grabbed the second place seed with a 1:52.23, followed closely by a 1:52.39 from\u00a0Ryan Lochte<\/strong>, currently representing Daytona Beach Speed.<\/p>\n
Maxime Rooney <\/strong>of the Pleasanton Seahawks\u00a0joined the 1:52 club with a fourth-place qualifying time of 1:52.72, just ahead of \u00a0Harvard’s\u00a0Dean Farris’<\/strong> 1:53.01.<\/p>\n
Walker Higgins<\/strong> (1:53.07), Santa Clara’s\u00a0Aidan Burns<\/strong> (1:53.35), Gator Swim Club’s\u00a0Mitch D’Arrigo<\/strong> (1:53.55), SwimAtlanta’s\u00a0Bradley Dunham<\/strong> (1:53.89), and Swim Florida’s\u00a0Santi Corredor<\/strong> (1:54.24) also qualified for the A final.<\/p>\n

Rachel Bernhardt<\/strong>\u00a0of Gamecock Aquatics collected the third place seed with a time of 1:09.89, while\u00a0Meaghan Raab<\/strong>\u00a0of Nashavile Aquatic Club picked up fourth with a 1:11.09.<\/p>\n
18-year-old Vanessa Pearl,\u00a0<\/strong>representing Metroplex Aquatics, led a quad of teenagers into the top heat with a time of 1:11.27. She was followed by Tennessee Aquatics’\u00a0Meghan Small<\/strong> (1:11.48), Athens Bulldogs’\u00a0Danielle DellaTorre<\/strong> (1:11.76), and Athens Bulldogs’\u00a0Jordyn Gulle<\/strong> (1:12.49).<\/p>\n

Tiger Elite’s\u00a0Miguel DeLara\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in prelims with a time of 1:02.51, just ahead of Pointe-Claire’s\u00a0James Guest’s\u00a0<\/strong>time of 1:03.04.<\/p>\n
Lionel Khoo,\u00a0<\/strong>representing Gamecock Aquatics,\u00a0added a fourth place seed time of 1:03.12, while Tennessee Aquatics’\u00a0Matthew Dunphy<\/strong> took fifth in prelims with a 1:04.02.<\/p>\n

While he was off some of his personal best times,\u00a0Ryan Lochte<\/strong> returned to the 400 IM and claimed the top seed with a time of 4:30.35.<\/p>\n
James Guest<\/strong> of Pointe-Claire picked up the second-place seed with a 4:32.61, while the third-place seed was snagged by Swim Florida’s\u00a0Santi Corredor’s<\/strong> 4:33.39.<\/p>\n
Gator Swim Club’s\u00a0Mark Szaranek<\/strong> took fourth in prelims with a 4:35.18, just ahead of Gamecock Aquatics’\u00a0Tom Peribonio’s<\/strong> 4:35.61.<\/p>\n
SwimAtlanta’s\u00a0Jake Magahey<\/strong> (4:35.63), Metroplex’s\u00a0Jed Jones<\/strong> (4:37.67), Marlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Zach Brown<\/strong> (4:38.63), Tennessee’s\u00a0Owen Devine<\/strong> (4:39.82), and Marlins of Raleigh’s\u00a0Josh Legge<\/strong> (4:39.83) posted the sixth through tenth place qualifying times.<\/p>\n
