The junior set a new section record in the 200 freestyle (1:47.79) and the 100 freestyle (49.90). Her senior teammate <strong>Caitlyn Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>was just on her heels in the 100 free, finishing second in 50.86.<\/p>\n<p>Samansky also led off (23.86) the team&#8217;s winning, section record setting 200 freestyle relay (<strong>Jordan Gruce<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lexie Voice<\/strong>, and Snyder) as the quartet posted a 1:35.75. That same foursome swam a 3:29.57 to set a new section record in the 400 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<p>Snyder set a section record of her own, winning the 50 freestyle in 23.27.<\/p>\n<p>Clovis went one-two in the 200 IM behind\u00a0<strong>Shelby Vidmanr\u00a0<\/strong>(2:10.49) and\u00a0<strong>Abby Mammen\u00a0<\/strong>(2:10.75). Their teammate\u00a0<strong>Averee Preble\u00a0<\/strong>came up just two tenths shy of the 100 butterfly record, winning in 55.24. Preble won the 500 freestyle in 4:48.72. After touching second in the 200 IM Mammen won the 100 backstroke with a 57.73 while Vidmar topped the 100 breaststroke (1:05.99).<\/p>\n<p>Mammen, Vidmar, Preble, and\u00a0<strong>Taylor Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 medley relay by four seconds with a 1:47.51.<\/p>\n<p>Clovis West totaled 476.5 points while Buchanan had 315 and Clovis scored 255.<\/p>\n<h3>Boys<\/h3>\n<p>Clovis North only lost three events as\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Forbes\u00a0<\/strong>set the tone. The junior was first to the wall in the 200 (1:38.73) and 100 (45.66) freestyles. Frontier senior\u00a0<strong>Colin Rabnal\u00a0<\/strong>was runner up (1:40.79, 46.08) in both events.<\/p>\n<p>Forbes was also a key relay piece for Clovis North. He led off the team&#8217;s 200 freestyle relay and was followed by\u00a0<strong>Bodhi Bowden<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Cole Fleming<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Michael Jia\u00a0<\/strong>(20.84) as the quartet touched in 1:24.87.\u00a0<strong>Samuel Taylor<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Parker Bell<\/strong>, Bowden, and Forbes touched in 3:07.71 to win the 400 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<p>Jia was nearly as fast in the individual 50 free as he was anchoring the relay, winning the event in a 21.05. His teammate Fleming was runner up (21.60). Jia also won the 100 butterfly in 48.93.<\/p>\n<p>Clovis North&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ethan DePry\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 1:53.99 for the 200 IM title. His teammate\u00a0<strong>Theo Tuggle\u00a0<\/strong>won the 500 freestyle (4:34.44) by nine seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Clovis West freshman\u00a0<strong>Austin Lane\u00a0<\/strong>took control of the 100 back, stopping the clock in 51.19, three seconds ahead of second place. His teammate\u00a0<strong>Joaquin Jamieson\u00a0<\/strong>(58.14) was first to the wall in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>Lane, Jamieson,\u00a0<strong>Parker Fife<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Mason Harris\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 medley relay (1:35.47).<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the afternoon Clovis North had 533 points, Buchanan scored 486.5 and Clovis West totaled 226.5 points.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.results.teamunify.com\/clov\/2018\/CIFVALLEYS_D1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Full results.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Clovis West girls and the Clovis North boys won the 2018 CIF Central Section Division 1 Championships on Saturday.
