{"id":309173,"date":"2018-05-11T18:30:16","date_gmt":"2018-05-12T01:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=309173"},"modified":"2018-05-14T15:55:21","modified_gmt":"2018-05-14T22:55:21","slug":"15-usms-records-fall-on-second-day-of-masters-nationals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/15-usms-records-fall-on-second-day-of-masters-nationals\/","title":{"rendered":"21 USMS Records Fall On Second Day Of Masters Nationals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2018 U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) National Championships meet continued today in Indianapolis, Indiana with a total of 21 USMS records coming down as the more than 2,300 masters swimmers hit the pool for a full day of events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2018-us-masters-national-championships\/usa-masters\/2018\/May\/10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018 U.S. Masters National Championships &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many of the usual record breakers were at it again at this meet, but with <strong>Rick Colella<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Laura Val,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Margaret Toppel\u00a0<\/strong>all setting multiple individual USMS records. Val<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0broke two of her own records in the 65-69 age group, setting new marks in the 200 free (2:07.23) and 100 back (1:03.96), taking both records down by about 2 seconds. Collela set new marks in the 60-64 age group in the 400 IM (4:30.64) and 50 breast (28.88), while Toppel set new women&#8217;s marks in the 70-74 age group in the 100 back (1:14.57) and 50 free
