WHAT will some of the biggest stars swim at the U.S. Olympic Trials next week? We won&#039;t know the official answer to that until we see the heat sheets each day, but with the release of the psych sheet today, we can at least start speculating. Ryan Lochte is entered in 11 events, including three on the first day: the 400 IM, 400 free and 100 breast. It&#039;s quite possible Lochte will pare down his schedule to something a little more manageable. Michael Phelps is entered in seven events, including the 400 IM, but again, we won&#039;t know if he swims it until the heat sheets are released. <\/p>\n<p>The second day of qualifying for synchronized diving events at the U.S. diving Olympic Trials featured a runaway performance by Troy Dumais and Kristian Ipsen in the men&#039;s three-meter synchro event. They lead by 27 points over Chris Colwill and Drew Livingston going into Friday&#039;s final. The United States was unable to secure a spot in the women&#039;s platform synchro at the Olympics, so yesterday&#039;s competition in that event was just for exhibition purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Individual qualifying begins today in Seattle with the women&#039;s 3-meter and men&#039;s 10-meter. The top eight from today&#039;s qualifying rounds move on to the finals on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>While we sleep tonight in North and South America, the British will be starting their second Olympic swimming trials to fill 14 roster spots in 12 individual events. Some swimmers just missed the FINA A time by inches in London at the March Trials, and will be looking to swim just a little bit faster this week. Rebecca Adlington will race the 200 freestyle tomorrow in the hopes of securing a spot on the 800 free relay, and since they have already qualified in various events for London, Lizzie Simmonds, Jemma Lowe, Liam Tancock and others will be using this week&#039;s nationals as a training meet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX, Arizona, June 19.
