AUSTIN, Texas—-The Auburn men's and women's swimming teams got off to a good start in the Texas Invitational with some impressive swims. Ten of the 11 teams competing are ranked in the top-25.<\/p>\n
\tThe No. 4 men were led by senior Kirk Hampleman (1:49.41), junior James Galloway (1:49.55) and sophomore Mark Gangloff (1:49.78), who finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively in the 500-yard IM. <\/p>\n
Auburn's A relay team of Hampleman, junior Pat Calhoun, senior Christian Cantwell and freshman Ryan Wochomurka finished sixth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:16.39, while team B of senior Jon Karr, freshman Will Brandt, junior Nick Kozyra and freshman Matt Kidd had a time of 3:19.06, good for eighth.<\/p>\n
\tThe No. 3 women were led by junior Maggie Bowen who finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.51 and tenth 500 free with a time of 4:52.18. Sophomore Becky Short finished the 50 free at 23.22, good for sixth, while fellow sophomore Laura Swander finished fourth in the 100 free with a time of 57.18.<\/p>\n
\tThe Tiger's women's relay team of Short, Bowen, junior Cassidy Maxwell and sophomore Heather Kemp finished seventh in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.81, while the 400 medley relay team of Bowen, Swander, sophomore Demerae Christianson and Short finished with a time 3:44.80, good for fifth.<\/p>\n
\tThe meet continues through Sunday with prelims in the morning and finals in the evening.<\/p>\n
\tIn other action the Auburn men's and women's diving teams competed at the Georgia Invitational in Athens, Ga. <\/p>\n
\tFreshman Matt Bricker finished first in the 3 meter dive, while sophomore Caesar Garcia finished second. Freshman Rachael Korth, who was competing in her first collegiate diving championships, finished 18th in the women's 1 meter dive.<\/p>\n
\t"I am very pleased with Matt and Ceasar for finished first and second," Auburn diving head coach Jeff Shaffer said. "I am excited with Rachel's finish since this was her first collegiate championship event."<\/p>\n
