The Indiana Hoosiers have been on fire the last few years and their women’s team got some good news on Thursday morning. NCAA A-finalist\u00a0Bailey Andison\u00a0<\/strong>will transfer from Division I Mid-Major Denver to Bloomington to finish her last year of college swimming with the Hoosiers.<\/p>\n

Andison finished in eight in the 200 IM (1:54.44) at the 2018 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships and was ninth in the 400 (4:03.83). Andison also swam the 200 breast at NCAA’s where she was 49th (2:13.09).<\/p>\n

Andison was just off her best times at NCAA’s as she swam a 1:54.38 200 IM at the Tennessee Invite in the fall and was a 4:03.09 at the 2017 NCAA’s in the 400 IM where she ended up placing fifth.<\/p>\n

This is a huge pick-up for the Hoosiers who have not had a national level IM’er since\u00a0Alyssa Vavra\u00a0<\/strong>was a multi-time All-American in 2012. Vavra holds the school records in both IM events with a 1:55.44 in the 200 and 4:01.41 in the 400, both set at the 2012 Big Ten Championships.<\/p>\n

Andison’s best time in the 200 is already under Vavra’s school record and she currently sits second all-time with her best time in the 400.<\/p>\n

Andison would have also been third at the 2018 Big Ten’s in the 200 with her best time behind Michigan’s\u00a0Siobhan Haughey\u00a0<\/strong>(1:53.59) and Wisconsin’s\u00a0Beata Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:53.85), who both return next season.\u00a0Christie Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:56.76, 5th) and\u00a0Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>(1:56.81, 6th) were Indiana’s highest finishers at Big Ten’s in the event.<\/p>\n

Andison would have been the 2018 Big Ten Champion with her best time in the 400 IM.\u00a0Ohio State’s\u00a0Meg Bailey\u00a0<\/strong>was the champion this year at 4:04.85, but Bailey beat Andison at the NCAA’s when she placed seventh with a 4:04.26. Senior\u00a0Sam Lisy\u00a0<\/strong>was the Hoosier’s lone finalist in the event with a 4:10.55 for eighth place.<\/p>\n

The Hoosiers lost a pretty successful senior class that included Lisy,\u00a0Kennedy Goss\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Ali Rockett<\/strong>. Andison will be joining a senior class that includes All-Americans\u00a0Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Christie Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>as the Hoosiers will be loading up to try to take down the three-time defending Big Ten Champions Michigan.<\/p>\n

Indiana head coach\u00a0Ray Looze\u00a0<\/strong>hasn’t been known as a premiere IM coach since Vavra was on campus. But he has had success on the men’s side with All-Americans\u00a0Steve Schmuhl\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sam Trahin<\/strong> in the past.<\/p>\n
