The Pittsford Mendon High School senior will join the Eagles beginning next fall where he plans to study at the Carrol School of Management.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited to announce my commitment to Boston College!! I loved the drive of the coaching staff and the energy the team had for improving.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Roche has many abilities over a wide range of events and will look to provide great depth to Boston College&#8217;s program. His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 Free (21.21)<\/li>\n<li>100 Free (46.13)<\/li>\n<li>200 Free (1:43.36)<\/li>\n<li>500 Free (4:42.23)<\/li>\n<li>100 Back (50.46)<\/li>\n<li>400 IM (4:05.79)<\/li>\n<li>200 Fly (1:55.81)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Roche has shown continued improvement throughout his high school senior year campaign. At the recent 2018 TYR ISCA Junior Championship Cup in Virginia, he competed in nine total races while posting a career best in the 100-yard backstroke (50.46) placing 10th overall. He also finished sixth in the 50-yard backstroke (23.53) in an opportunity to race in the A-final. This past summer, he competed at the Futures Championship in the 50, 100 and 200-meter freestyle events.<\/p>\n<p>Roche is also the 2018 All-Greater Rochester High School Swimmer of the Year, an Academic All-American, 2x All-American Consideration, 9x Section V Champion and a 4x First Team Monroe County selection.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on where his strengths fall into next year&#8217;s team, Roche&#8217;s current best times would have put him among Boston College&#8217;s top-four entered athletes at this past season&#8217;s 2018 ACC Men&#8217;s Championships in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 back events.<\/p>\n<p><em>Fairport Area Swim Team contributed to this report.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0Fairport Area Swim Team&#8217;s (FAST) Sam Roche has announced his verbal commitment to swim for Boston College.
