That was well under the previous Games record of 4:04.47 from 2014 held by <\/span><b>Lauren Boyle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The seventeen-year-old had set an Australian mark in the event at Australian Trials <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ariarne-titmus-breaks-400-free-australian-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">just last month with a 4:02.36<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finishing 2-3 were two swimmers from England, <\/span><b>Holly Hibbot <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4:05.31) and <\/span><b>Eleanor Faulkner <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4:07.35). <\/span><b>Joanna Evans <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the Bahamas was fourth in 4:08.82, followed by a pair of Aussie swimmers, <\/span><b>Jessica Ashwood <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4:10.32) and <\/span><b>Mikkayla Sheridan <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4:12.05) in fifth and sixth. Seebohm won the gold by .04, touching in 27.78 over Masse\u2019s 27.82.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Georgia Davies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Commonwealth Games record holder in the event from 2014, earned a bronze in the event when she finished third in 27.90. In fourth was Australian <\/span><b>Holly Barratt<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (27.96), while the final also featured a trio of Scottish swimmers: <\/span><b>Cassie Wild<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who finished fifth (28.18), <\/span><b>Kathleen Dawson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who finished sixth (28.37), and <\/span><b>Lucy Hope <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who finished eighth (28.54). That is Larkin&#8217;s fourth individual gold medal at these Games. He was just ahead of Scotland\u2019s <\/span><b>Duncan Scott <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:57.86) and fellow Aussie <\/span><b>Clyde Lewis <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:58.18).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scotland had two more swimmers in the final, with <\/span><b>Mark Szaranek <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in fourth<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:59.24) and <\/span><b>Daniel Wallace <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in sixth (1:59.85). New Zealand\u2019s <\/span><b>Bradlee Ashby <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was fifth (1:59.59) and <\/span><b>Lewis Clareburt <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was seventh (2:01.13).
