Fort Lauderdale has hosted the YMCA Masters National Championship Meet 13 years (1992, 1993, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009-2013, and 2018).<\/p>\n<p>The diving competition for student-athletes under age 18 will begin each day at 9 a.m. and includes 10-meter platform diving, 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving events. An estimated 160 divers, primarily from the Midwest and Eastern states, will compete in the event. Athletes from the Fort Lauderdale Dive Team under the direction of Coach <strong>Dave Burgering<\/strong> will compete for the YMCA of South Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The masters swimming competition participants are from 19 to over 90 years of age. The timed final competition for swimming begins Thursday, April 19 at 8:30 a.m. Local swimmers from the Greater Fort Lauderdale area will be competing for the YMCA of South Florida. Other teams from Florida include the Orlando YMCA, Sarasota YMCA, and the South Palm Beach YMCA.<\/p>\n<p>Admission for spectators is free.
