Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Olympic gold medalist Allison Schmitt will make her return to competition this week at the 2018 TYR Pro Swim Series at Mesa, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/psych-sheet-released-for-tyr-pro-swim-series-at-mesa-schmitt-enters-100-200-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with official entries in the 100 and 200 freestyle<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This will be Schmitt\u2019s first time racing since the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she left with a gold medal as part of Team USA\u2019s 800 freestyle relay. Mesa makes sense as a meet to test the comeback waters for Schmitt, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/allison-schmitt-confirms-move-to-tempe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who moved to nearby Tempe to continue training with Bob Bowman<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> leading up to the 2016 Olympics. The meet runs from Thursday, April 12 through Sunday, April 15, with daily prelims beginning at 9:00am PDT and finals starting at 5:00pm PDT on Thursday April 12 and 4:40pm PDT on April 13-14. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USA Swimming announced this week that Indiana head coach <\/span><b>Ray Looze <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Louisville head coach <\/span><b>Arthur Albiero <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ray-looze-arthur-albiero-named-usa-coaches-for-pan-pacific-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have been selected to lead the United States\u2019 team for the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this summer. Looze was just named the CSCAA Coach of the Year following the conclusion of the NCAA Championships and currently coaches several prominent members of the USA National Team, including <\/span><b>Lilly King<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the defending Olympic gold medalist in the 100 breaststroke, as well as <\/span><b>Cody Miller<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Blake Pieroni<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>Zane Grothe. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Albiero is coming off Louisville\u2019s best NCAA finish in school history last month, and currently coaches Olympic medalist <\/span><b>Kelsi Dahlia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and five-time world champion <\/span><b>Mallory Comerford<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This is Looze\u2019s sixth appearance as a National Team coach and Albiero\u2019s fifth. He also dropped almost 2 seconds in the 200 breaststroke, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-max-mchugh-knocks-down-ymca-national-record-in-200-breaststroke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">taking it all the way to 1:53.59<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>Brendan Burns <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also set National YMCA records in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-brendan-burns-adds-to-ymca-national-record-tally-in-200-fly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the 200 fly (1:44.49)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-brendan-burns-destroys-100-backstroke-ymca-national-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100 backstroke (46.24)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-brendan-burns-breaks-tim-phillips-100-fly-ymca-national-mark\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100 fly (46.61)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>Ross Dant <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-ross-dant-wins-1650-by-20-seconds-in-ymca-national-record-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won the mile by 20 seconds<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a National record time of 14:50.97. Sarasota won the combined team standings (609 points) as well as the men\u2019s meet (401 points), while the Cheshire women were at the top of the women\u2019s meet (209 points). Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2018 Japanese National Championships were underway in Tokyo, Japan this week, with swimmers competing for spots on the roster for the Pan Pacific Championships, Asian Games, Junior Pan Pacs, and Youth Olympics. Seventeen-year-old <\/span><b>Rikako Ikee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stole the show at the meet, setting four national records over the course of the five day meet. Ikee set new marks in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ikee-downs-second-national-record-on-day-four-of-japanese-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 free (24.21)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rikako-ikee-breaks-two-more-records-on-final-day-of-japanese-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100 free (53.03)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rikako-ikee-breaks-two-more-records-on-final-day-of-japanese-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 fly (25.43)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rikako-ikee-posts-world-leading-100-fly-at-japanese-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100 fly (56.38)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with her records in the 50 fly and 100 free coming on the final day of the meet.
