The 2018 Japanese National Championships concluded today with athletes qualifying for the Pan Pacs team,\u00a0Asian Games, Jr. Pan Pacs and the Youth Olympics.<\/p>\n

Seventeen-year-old Rikako Ikee<\/strong> stole the show on the fifth and final day of competition. After setting new national marks in the\u00a050 free<\/a> and 100 fly<\/a> earlier this week, she concluded the meet with two more records in the 100 free and 50 fly.<\/p>\n

Full Results<\/a><\/h3>\n

Women’s 1500 Free<\/h2>\n

Yukimi Moriyama\u00a0<\/strong>won the women’s mile with a time of 16:17.22, making this her second individual title of the weekend after winning the 800 free on day two.<\/p>\n

Waka Kobori\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 16:20.82 and\u00a0Aoi Nakamura\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 16:23.71.<\/p>\n

Men’s 800 Free<\/h2>\n

To match is 1500 free win from earlier this meet,\u00a0Syogo Takeda\u00a0<\/strong>also got to the wall first in the men’s 800 free. He finished two seconds ahead of the field with a time of 7:53.24.<\/p>\n

Kouhei Yamamoto\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 7:55.24 and\u00a0Taketomo Tani\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 7:56.40.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Free<\/h2>\n

Rikako Ikee\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the women’s 100 free, winning the event by nearly 1.5 seconds.\u00a0Her time of 53.03 knocked off the old Japanese national record of 53.46. This marked her third win of the meet.<\/p>\n

Second went to\u00a0Tomomi Aoki\u00a0<\/strong>in 54.52 and third went to\u00a0Chihiro Igarashi\u00a0<\/strong>in 54.94.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Free<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Katsumi Nakamura\u00a0<\/strong>matched his men’s 50 free title from earlier this meet with a win in the 100 free as well. He stopped the clock with a final time of 48.22.<\/p>\n

Shinri Shioura\u00a0<\/strong>(48.76) and\u00a0Katsuhir Matsumoto\u00a0<\/strong>(48.81) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Back<\/h2>\n

Sixteen-year-old\u00a0Natsumi Sakai\u00a0<\/strong>got her hand to the wall first in the women’s 200 back in a time of 2:08.28, beating the field by nearly 1.5 seconds. She also won the 50 back and took second in the 100 back at this meet.<\/p>\n

Sayaka Akase\u00a0<\/strong>wound up second in 2:09.64 while\u00a0Rio Shirai\u00a0<\/strong>finished a close third in 2:09.84.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Fly<\/h2>\n

Yuuki Kobori\u00a0<\/strong>earned the gold in the men’s 100 fly as the only swimmer in the field under the 52-second mark, doing so in a time of 51.86.<\/p>\n

Nao Horomura\u00a0<\/strong>swam to silver in 52.04 and the bronze went to\u00a0Naoki Mizunuma\u00a0<\/strong>in 52.18.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Breast<\/h2>\n

Women’s 100 breast winner\u00a0Reona Aoki\u00a0<\/strong>also crushed the field in the 200 breast, winning with a time of 2:21.85.<\/p>\n

Kanako Watanabe\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 2:22.90 and third place went to\u00a0Satomi Suzuki\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:23.19.<\/p>\n

Women’s 400 IM<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

After dominating the women’s 200 IM on day four,\u00a0Yui Ohhashi\u00a0<\/b>did the same in the 400 IM. She finished nearly seven seconds ahead of the field with a time of 4:30.82. That time broke the old Japanese national record of 4:31.42.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Sakiko Shimizu\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 4:37.37 and\u00a0Miho Takahashi\u00a0<\/strong>swam to third in 4:39.72.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kosuke Hagino\u00a0<\/b>cruised to first in the men’s 400 IM, winning his second title of the meet in 4:10.69.\u00a0He also won the 200 IM earlier this weekend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/b>(4:14.01) touched the wall for second and\u00a0Tomoya Takeuchi\u00a0<\/strong>(4:14.49) got third.<\/p>\n

Women’s 50 Fly<\/h2>\n

Not too long after a record-setting performance in the women’s 100 free, 17-year-old Ikee stole the show once again in the 50 fly. She concluded the meet with a new Japanese national record in a quick 25.43, clipping the old mark by .01.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
