After three full days of action in Australia’s Gold Coast, fast swimming was on display at the 2018 Commonwealth Games for the fourth night of finals.<\/p>\n

The usual suspects like Adam Peaty, Cate Campbell, Taylor Ruck<\/strong> and Kylie Masse<\/strong> all had big and epic swims in the finals.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 back final<\/h3>\n

The Canadians started night four of the Commonwealth Games in dramatic fashion, going 1-2 in the women\u2019s 200 backstroke.<\/p>\n

Kylie Masse<\/strong> won the event in 2:05.98, a Commonwealth Games record, holding off a packed field that included teammate Taylor Ruck<\/strong>, who finished second in 2:06.42 from lane one.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Emily Seebohm<\/strong> (2:06.82) and Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> (2:07.86) went 3-4 ahead of Canada\u2019s Hilary<\/strong> Caldwell<\/strong> (2:09.22).<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Hayley Baker<\/strong> was sixth (2:11.28), followed by England\u2019s Jessica Fullalove<\/strong> (2:11.74) and Elizabeth Simmonds (2:12.40).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Men’s 100 free final<\/h3>\n

Scotland\u2019s Duncan Scott<\/strong> surged to the championship in the men\u2019s 100 free at the Commonwealth Games. Duncan won the race in 48.02, holding off a charging Chad le Clos<\/strong> from South Africa, who finished second in 48.15, tied with Australia\u2019s Kyle Chalmers<\/strong> (48.15).<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Cameron McEvoy<\/strong> (48.44) was fourth, followed by Trinidad & Tobago\u2019s Dylan Carter<\/strong> (48.60), Australia\u2019s Jack Cartwright<\/strong> (48.62), Canada\u2019s Yuri Kisil<\/strong> (48.80) and New Zealand\u2019s Daniel Hunter<\/strong> (49.30).<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 free semifinal<\/h3>\n

Cate Campbell<\/strong> and Taylor Ruck<\/strong> had a great battle in the 100 free semifinals. Campbell, from Australia, earned the top seed for the finals with a swim of 52.64, a Commonwealth Games record.<\/p>\n

Ruck, a Canadian teenager, took the second spot in 53.05 to finish ahead of another Campbell, Bronte Campbell<\/strong>, who finished in 53.46.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Shayna Jack<\/strong> took the fourth seed in in 53.58, followed by Canada\u2019s Kayla Sanchez<\/strong> (54.18), Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> (54.34), South Africa\u2019s Erin Gallagher<\/strong> (54.38) and England\u2019s Anna Hopkin<\/strong> (55.17).<\/p>\n

Men’s 50 breast semifinal<\/h3>\n

England’s Adam Peaty<\/strong> swam the 50 breast in a Commonwealth Games record 26.49 to earn the top seed for the finals.<\/p>\n

South Africa\u2019s Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong> took the second seed (26.95), followed by England\u2019s James Wilby<\/strong> (27.41), Australia\u2019s Jack Packard<\/strong> (27.55), South Africa\u2019s Michael Houlie<\/strong> (27.64), Australia\u2019s James<\/strong> McKechnie<\/strong> (27.67), Scotland\u2019s Euan Inglis<\/strong> (27.85) and South Africa\u2019s Bradley Tandy<\/strong> (27.99).<\/p>\n

Men’s SM8 200 IM final<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s Jesse Aungles<\/strong> won the SM8 200 IM championship in 2:30.77 ahead of compatriot Blake<\/strong> Cochrane<\/strong> (2:32.72).<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s Philippe Vachon<\/strong> took third (2:34.03), followed by New Zealand\u2019s Celyn Edwards<\/strong> (2:35.07), Canada\u2019s Zach Zona<\/strong> (2:41.66) and Australia\u2019s Rohan Bright<\/strong> (2:32.89).<\/p>\n

Women’s S9 100 free final<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s Lakeisha Patterson<\/strong> won the Women\u2019s S9 100 Free in 1:03.02, holding off England\u2019s Alice Tai<\/strong> (1:03.07).<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Ellie Cole<\/strong> was third (1:03.36), followed by compatriot Emily Beecroft<\/strong> (1:03.76).<\/p>\n

Toni Shaw<\/strong> was fifth (1:04.19), followed by Canada\u2019s trio of Katarina Roxon<\/strong> (1:08.18), Abigail Tripp<\/strong> (1:09.43) and Morgan Bird<\/strong> (1:09.85).<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 fly semifinal<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s Grant Irvine<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 fly semifinals, finishing in 51.87.<\/p>\n

England\u2019s James Guy<\/strong> took the second spot in 52.34, followed by Australian\u2019s David Morgan<\/strong> (52.48) and South Africa\u2019s Chad le Clos<\/strong> (52.56).<\/p>\n

Calum Jarvis<\/strong> of Wales took the fifth seed (53.33), followed by Scotland\u2019s Sean Campsie<\/strong> (53.40) and England\u2019s Jacob Peters<\/strong> (53.40). Canada\u2019s Josiah Binnema<\/strong> took eighth (53.41).<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 breast semifinal<\/h3>\n

South Africa\u2019s Tatjana Schoenmaker<\/strong> took the top seed in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:06.65.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Georgia Bohl<\/strong> (1:07.13) was second, followed by Canada\u2019s Faith Knelson<\/strong> (1:07.30) and Kierra<\/strong> Smith<\/strong> (1:07.64).<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Leiston Pickett<\/strong> (1:07.71) took the fifth seed, followed by compatriot Jessica Hansen<\/strong> (1:07.93), England\u2019s Sarah Vasey<\/strong> (1:08.50) and Chloe Tutton<\/strong> (1:08.54) of Wales.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 IM final<\/h3>\n

England\u2019s Siobhan-Marie O\u2019Connor<\/strong> dominated the 200 IM to take the championship at 2:09.80.<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s Sarah Darcel<\/strong> (2:11.14) took second ahead of compatriot Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson<\/strong> (2:11.74).<\/p>\n

England\u2019s Aimee Willmott<\/strong> took fourth (2:12.07), followed by Australia\u2019s Blair Evans<\/strong> (2:12.76), Scotland\u2019s Hannah Miley<\/strong> (2:13.29), England\u2019s Abbie Wood<\/strong> (2:13.72) and Australia\u2019s Meg Bailey<\/strong> (2:14.58).<\/p>\n

Men’s 50 back final<\/h3>\n

Australia dominated the men\u2019s 50 back, taking the top three spots in the final.<\/p>\n

Mitch Larkin<\/strong> earned gold by finishing in 24.68, edging compatriot Benjamin Treffers<\/strong> (24.84) and Zac<\/strong> Incerti<\/strong> (25.06).<\/p>\n

Xavier Castelli<\/strong> of Wales took fourth n 25.44, followed by Conor Ferguson<\/strong> (25.72), Harry Shalamon<\/strong> (25.73), Scotland\u2019s Craig McNally<\/strong> (25.80) and Jian Han Tern<\/strong> (25.96).<\/p>\n

Women’s 50 fly final<\/h3>\n

The Australian women turned in a 1-2-3 performance in the 50 butterfly, led by Cate Campbell<\/strong>, who won the event in 25.59.<\/p>\n

Holly Barratt<\/strong> was second (25.67) and Madeline Groves<\/strong> was third (25.69).<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> took fourth (25.88), followed by compatriot Rebecca Smith<\/strong> (26.49), Alys<\/strong> Thomas<\/strong> of Wales (26.78), South Africa\u2019s Erin Gallagher<\/strong> (26.84) and Jamaica\u2019s Alia Atkinson<\/strong> (27.35).<\/p>\n

Men’s 4×200 free relay final<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s Alexander Graham, Kyle Chalmers, Elijah Winnington<\/strong> and Mack Horton<\/strong> won the 4×200 free relay, easily holding off England\u2019s Cameron Kurle, Nicholas Granger, Jarvis Parkinson<\/strong> and James<\/strong> Guy<\/strong>, who finished in 7:08.57. Australia\u2019s time broke the Commonwealth Games record in the event.<\/p>\n
