Peaty closed in 32.10, while his English teammate\u00a0<strong>James Wilby\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 31.48 to move into silver-medal position. Wilby, the 200 breast gold medalist from Thursday, finished in 59.43.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cameron van der Burgh\u00a0<\/strong>finished one hundredth behind Wilby and took bronze in 59.44. Van der Burgh was the 2012 Olympic gold medalist and 2010 Commonwealth champion in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jake Packard\u00a0<\/strong>(59.70) and Scotland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ross Murdoch<\/strong> (59.89) both broke the 1:00 barrier (and coincidentally, both finished faster than Peaty on the second 50).
