There are a number of tight team races going on headed into the final day.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 500 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>After winning the 400 IM last night in a huge lifetime best time, York&#8217;s senior\u00a0<strong>Leah Braswell\u00a0<\/strong>won the 500 freestyle in 4:42.09, three seconds ahead of second place,\u00a0<strong>Emma Weyant\u00a0<\/strong>of Sarasota (4:45.45), who was also runner up in the 400 IM. The Hickory swimmer earned gold in 4:19.86. While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hs-junior-national-jr-teamer-ross-dant-stays-in-state-with-verbal-to-wolfpack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">verbally committed to NC State<\/a>, Dant is still only a junior, and has one more Nationals to break\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Caldwell<\/strong>&#8216;s 2011 mark of 4:18.01. He adds this gold to his 1,000 victory and 200 backstroke silver.<\/p>\n<p>Sarasota&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Arik Katz\u00a0<\/strong>followed his teammate Weyant in finishing second, stopping the clock in 4:24.38. She was a half second ahead of anybody else after the fly leg and also posted one of two sub-30 second backstroke splits in the A final, before hanging on for the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Boise&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charity Pittard\u00a0<\/strong>separated herself from the pack with a 33.79 breaststroke split, racing to second in 2:00.26. Just .05 behind him was York&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alec Peckmann\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:49.63. Sarasota&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emma Weyant\u00a0<\/strong>was out fast in 1:49.78. At the 400 mark Cheshire led York by a second after\u00a0<strong>Mia Leko\u00a0<\/strong>went a 1:50.26 for the Sea Dogs and\u00a0<strong>Madison Nalls\u00a0<\/strong>split a 1:50.19 for York.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Julia Stevens\u00a0<\/strong>(1:50.36) and\u00a0<strong>Margest Shelly\u00a0<\/strong>(1:50.09) swam third for Cheshire and York. Heading into the final leg Cheshire had an eight tenth lead on York.\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Tyler\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:47.99 to get Cheshire to the wall in 7:21.52. York&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lead Braswell\u00a0<\/strong>was charging home though, splitting a 1:47.20 to get York to the wall in 7:21.58.<\/p>\n<p>Weyant was followed by\u00a0<strong>Savannah
