This will be Schmitt\u2019s first time racing since the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she left with a gold medal as part of Team USA\u2019s 800 freestyle relay. Mesa makes sense as a meet to test the comeback waters for Schmitt, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/allison-schmitt-confirms-move-to-tempe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who moved to nearby Tempe to continue training with <\/span><b>Bob Bowman<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">leading up to the 2016 Olympics. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many other notable American names are entered to compete next week as well, including some college swimmers just coming off their NCAA season. Indiana\u2019s <\/span><b>Blake Pieroni <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is entered as the second seed in the 200 free <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/blake-pieroni-becomes-first-man-under-130-in-200-free-leads-off-relay-in-129-62-townley-haas-also-under-old-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">after becoming the first man under 1:30 in short course yards<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> just two weeks ago (although <\/span><b>Townley Haas <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/townley-haas-reclaims-200-free-american-record-wins-for-third-straight-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">would drop the record further later in the meet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Louisville\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?s=mallory+comerford\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Mallory Comerford<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will also be swimming a full slate of events, including the 100 free where she is the top seed and current U.S. Open Record holder in the event, as will Cal\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?s=Abbey+Weitzeil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Abbey Weitzeil<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some other notable Olympians scheduled to compete include <\/span><b>Chase Kalisz<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (top seed &#8211; 400 IM, 200 IM), <\/span><b>Ryan Murphy <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(top seed &#8211; 100 back, 200 back), <\/span><b>Leah Smith <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(top seed &#8211; 400 free, 800 free), <\/span><b>Kelsi Dahlia <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(top seed &#8211; 100 fly), and <\/span><b>Josh Prenot <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(top seed &#8211; 200 breast), with many more U.S. stars peppered through the psych sheet. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The meet runs from Thursday, April 12 through Sunday, April 15, with daily prelims beginning at 9:00am PDT and finals starting at 5:00pm PDT on Thursday April 12 and 4:40pm PDT on April 13-14.
