The team of\u00a0<strong>Cameron McEvoy<\/strong> (48.91),\u00a0<strong>James Magnussen\u00a0<\/strong>(48.09),\u00a0<strong>Jack Cartwright\u00a0<\/strong>(47.71) and\u00a0<strong>Kyle Chalmers\u00a0<\/strong>(48.25) put up a time of 3:12.96.<\/p>\n<p>Chalmers, after winning the 200 free earlier in the night, didn&#8217;t have to do much on the anchor leg as the Aussies already had a big lead. The team came up short of the Games record of 3:12.72, set by McEvoy, Magnussen, Cartwright and\u00a0<strong>James Roberts\u00a0<\/strong>in prelims.<\/p>\n<p>England&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>David Cumberlidge<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ben Proud<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jarvis Parkinson<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>James Guy\u00a0<\/strong>took silver in 3:15.25, and Scotland, with\u00a0<strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jack Thorpe<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kieran McGuckin<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Stephen Milne<\/strong>, earned bronze in 3:15.86.<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand finished fourth in 3:16.60, ahead of Canada (3:16.60), South Africa (3:17.37) and Northern Ireland (3:20.03).
