Wilby touched in 2:08.05, just ahead of Murdoch in 2:08.32.<\/p>\n<p>Wilby closed in 32.59 on the last 50, a full second faster than anyone else in the field and 1.37 faster than Murdoch on the way home.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matt Wilson\u00a0<\/strong>claimed third in 2:08.64, denying England&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Willis\u00a0<\/strong>(2:09.31) a medal. Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>George Harley\u00a0<\/strong>took fifth in 2:10.04, and\u00a0<strong>Craig Benson<\/strong>, in contention the entire race, faded to sixth in 2:10.09.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Calum Tait\u00a0<\/strong>(2:11.67) and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elijah Wall\u00a0<\/strong>(2:11.94) rounded out the final.<\/p>\n<p><img
