At the start of this morning the YMCA National record in the men’s 200 breaststroke stood at 1:55.46, set by\u00a0Max McHugh\u00a0<\/strong>in 2016. This morning the 18 year old from Door County lowered his own National mark, touching in 1:54.23. The University of Minnesota commit<\/a>\u00a0returned at night to post a 1:53.59, winning the event by nearly six full seconds.<\/p>\n

At night, McHugh was a little bit faster on all but the third 50, with the biggest drop coming in the last split.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year McHugh set the National High School record<\/a> in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n
