{"id":303864,"date":"2018-04-04T06:29:57","date_gmt":"2018-04-04T13:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=303864"},"modified":"2018-04-04T06:29:57","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T13:29:57","slug":"rikako-ikee-posts-world-leading-100-fly-at-japanese-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/rikako-ikee-posts-world-leading-100-fly-at-japanese-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Rikako Ikee Posts World-Leading 100 Fly at Japanese Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two national records fell on night two of the 2018 Japanese National Championships, including a new world-leading time in the women&#8217;s 100 fly from\u00a0<strong>Rikako Ikee.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Athletes will try to qualify for the Pan Pacs team in every event on the schedule at this meet,\u00a0which takes place April 3 to April 8 in Tokyo.\u00a0This meet will also serve as the selection meet for the Asian Games, Jr. Pan Pacs and the Youth Olympics.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 800 Free<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Yukimi Moriyama\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the women&#8217;s 800 free, winning the event by over five seconds in a final time of 8:31.44.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kinuko Mochiduki\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 8:36.86 and\u00a0<strong>Mayuko Gotou\u00a0<\/strong>took third with a time of 8:37.63.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 100 Fly<\/h2>\n<p>Seventeen-year-old\u00a0<strong>Rikako Ikee\u00a0<\/strong>lowered her own Japanese record in the women&#8217;s 100 fly not once, but twice yesterday. During semi-finals, Ikee first broke the mark in 56.58.\u00a0During finals, she lowered her time once again to 56.38 as the fastest time in the world this season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yukina Hirayama\u00a0<\/strong>got her hands to the wall second in 58.32 and third went to\u00a0<strong>Suzuka Hasegawa\u00a0<\/strong>in 58.49.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 100 Back<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Ryosuke Irie\u00a0<\/strong>won the national title and secured his spot on the Pan Pacs roster by winning the men&#8217;s 100 back in 53.18.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junya Koga\u00a0<\/strong>(53.62) and\u00a0<strong>Masaki Kaneko\u00a0<\/strong>(54.10) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 100 Breast<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Yasuhiro\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Koseki\u00a0<\/strong>was the only swimmer in the field to crack the one-minute barrier in the men&#8217;s 100 breast, doing so in a winning time of 59.30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hayato Watanabe\u00a0<\/strong>got to the wall in 1:00.18 for second and\u00a0<strong>Ippei\u00a0Watanabe\u00a0<\/strong>swam a time of 1:00.27 for third.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 50 Fly<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Kengo Ida\u00a0<\/strong>added his own new Japanese national record to the night, doing so in the men&#8217;s 50 fly.
