The meet is taking place from April 3-7 in in Greensboro, NC.<\/p>\n<h2>Women 1000 Freestyle<\/h2>\n<p>Braswell was able to fight off Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Emma Weyant<\/strong> for the 1000 Freestyle title (9:45.33). She led the race from start to finish despite a strong charge from Weyant in the back half. Weyant dropped a huge twelve seconds to earn runner-up honors in 9:47.85.<\/p>\n<p>Powel Crosley&#8217;s <strong>Lucy Callard<\/strong> was also in the mix with her relaxed approach up front. Her efforts earned a third place finish and a 9:48.32 &#8211; her first time under the ten-minute barrier. Wilton&#8217;s <strong>Catherine Buroker<\/strong> was fourth in 9:50.83.<\/p>\n<p>She was followed by Susquehanna&#8217;s <strong>Abigail Doss<\/strong> (9:54.25), Spartanburg&#8217;s <strong>Rachel Reistroffer<\/strong> (10:00.75), Somerset Valley&#8217;s <strong>Aziza Ganihanova<\/strong> (10:01.42) and Sarasota&#8217;s 13-year-old <strong>Michaela Mattes<\/strong> He came in under his seed time in 8:57.37 and just off the meet record set in 2011 by <strong>Nicholas Caldwell<\/strong> in 8:55.55.<\/p>\n<p>Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Arik Katz <\/strong>was in the race through the first 300, but he could not hang on to the consistency of Ross Dant. Katz fought for second place honors with a four and a half second drop of 9:04.41. Teammate <strong>Nico Hernandez-Tome<\/strong> dropped over 14 seconds for third in 9:07.32. The two were nearly even through the 700 but Katz was able to pull away in the end. <strong>Brendan Firlie<\/strong>, also of Sarasota, was fifth in 9:11.71.<\/p>\n<p>Somerset&#8217;s <strong>Matt Fallon<\/strong> broke up the Sarasota madness with his fourth place swim of 9:09.65. Boise&#8217;s <strong>Jackson Cunningham<\/strong> was sixth in 9:12.81 while Fanwood Scotch&#8217;s <strong>Josh Cohen<\/strong> was next in 9:15.15 and North Oakland&#8217;s <strong>Graham Boyer<\/strong>, <strong>Mia Leko<\/strong> and <strong>Sophie Murphy<\/strong> claimed the top spot in the 200 Medley Relay prelims in 1:42.88. 14-year-old Murphy was the lone competitor to break 23 seconds on the anchor leg with a split of 22.80.<\/p>\n<p>Lakeland Hills&#8217; <strong>Victoria Eisenhauer<\/strong> achieved a similar feat on the breaststroke leg by splitting a 27.90 &#8211; over half a second faster than anyone else in the field. Burns blasted a 21.74 backstroke split to give the team a strong opening lead.<\/p>\n<p>A strong back half from Red Bank YMCA helped them to second in 1:31.92 as <strong>Max Walther<\/strong> split a 21.86 on the fly and <strong>Matthew Chang<\/strong> swam a 20.45 anchor leg. Somerset Hills (1:32.33), Sarasota (1:32.55) and Birmingham (1:32.79) took third through fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Lakeland&#8217;s <strong>Gary Sun<\/strong> had the fastest breaststroke split in the field at 25.46 leading his team to the sixth seed.
