This week\u2019s Performance Of The Week, <\/span>sponsored by LumaLanes<\/span><\/a>, goes to <\/span>Kristof Milak <\/b>for his lightning fast swim in the 200 fly at the 2018 Hungarian Nationals. <\/span><\/p>\n

Milak was absolutely stunning this weekend, becoming the <\/span>third fastest performer ever in the 200 butterfly<\/span><\/a> and nearly breaking countrymate <\/span>Laszlo Cseh\u2019s <\/b>national record in the event. Cseh is the second fastest performer of all-time with his 1:52.70 from the 2008 Olympics and finished third in the event at last week\u2019s nationals. Milak won the Hungarian title in 1:52.71, a time that would have won gold at every major international competition all the way back to the 2009 World Championships, which <\/span>Michael Phelps <\/b>won in a world record performance of 1:51.51. <\/span><\/p>\n

The 18-year old gave a glimpse of his potential last summer, when he <\/span>won European Juniors with a 1:53.79<\/span><\/a>, breaking the world junior record in the event. He followed that up with four gold medals at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Indianapolis, and seems to be positioning himself as a future major player on the international stage. <\/span><\/p>\n

Milak\u2019s time is far and away the fastest so far this year, and while we may see someone challenge the mark at next week\u2019s Commonwealth Games, Milak himself has a chance to improve on his new personal best later this summer at the European Championships. <\/span><\/p>\n
