{"id":302400,"date":"2018-03-24T17:46:30","date_gmt":"2018-03-25T00:46:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=302400"},"modified":"2018-03-24T17:46:30","modified_gmt":"2018-03-25T00:46:30","slug":"regan-smith-breaks-nag-record-in-100-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/regan-smith-breaks-nag-record-in-100-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Regan Smith Breaks NAG Record in 100 Back at Sectional; MLA Shining"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Regan Smith<\/strong> continued her dominance at the USA Sectional in Akron on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>After breaking the national age group record in the 100 back during prelims with 51.28, the Riptide swimmer smashed her own mark with a 50.84 to win the finals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kathryn Ackerman<\/strong> of Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics was second in 54.71. <strong>Portia Brown<\/strong><br \/>\nof Lake Erie Silver Dolphins was third at 55.04.<\/p>\n<p>Smith also won the 200 butterfly in 1:53.50, again finishing ahead of Ackerman (2:00.77).<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 100 back, <strong>Jack Fitzpatrick<\/strong> of Performance Elite Aquatics won in 48.81. <strong>Gregory Kalin<\/strong> took second (49.33), followed by Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics\u2019 <strong>Ian Miskelley<\/strong> (49.44).<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 500 free, Riptide\u2019s <strong>Lucia Rizzo<\/strong> won the event in 4:55.10. <strong>Emma Bliss<\/strong> of USSC was second in 4:56.09, while<strong> Caroline Sisson<\/strong> of Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics was third (4:56.62).<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 500 free, Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics\u2019 <strong>Skyler Cook-Weeks<\/strong> won in 4:27.57. Daniel Frederick was second in 4:31.08 and <strong>Jay Johnso<\/strong>n of Heat was third in 4:33.69.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zoe Skirboll<\/strong> of Racer X won the 100 breast in 1:01.47. <strong>Aisling Walsh<\/strong> took second in 1:01.79 and <strong>Laura<\/strong> <strong>Gottler<\/strong> was third in 1:02.37.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Devon Nowicki<\/strong> won the 100 breast (53.59) ahead of <strong>Fausto Huenta<\/strong> (55.57) and West Ottawa Swim Club\u2019s <strong>Derek Maas<\/strong> (56.20). His brother <strong>Kyle Maas<\/strong>, was fourth (56.26), followed by his high school teammates <strong>Khadin Soto<\/strong> (56.44) and <strong>Julian Barrios<\/strong> (56.55), swimming for MLA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zachary Cook<\/strong> won the 200 butterfly in 1:49.12 ahead of <strong>Owen Blazer<\/strong> (1:51.50) and <strong>Kimani Gregory<\/strong> (1:51.55).<\/p>\n<p>MLA\u2019s Cook-Weeks, Miskelley, Kyle Maas and <strong>Cameron Peel<\/strong> won the 800 free relay in 6:38.93.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regan Smith continued her dominance at the USA Sectional in Akron on Saturday.
