April 7.  THE World Swimming Majors data base has compiled information on thousands of open water swimmers in 30 major marathon swims around the world over the last 130 years. The 30 events are listed on the <a href=\"http:\/\/openwaterswimming.com\/community\/world-swimming-majors\/\">World Swimming Majors<\/a> site <a href=\"http:\/\/worldswimmingmajors.weebly.com\/events.html\"target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/openwaterswimming.com\/community\/world-swimming-majors\/\">World Swimming Majors<\/a> is organized and searchable by age, country, gender and location (e.g., English Channel).  While the data base is not complete, it is interesting to see where swimmers rank.  The more swims they do, the higher their rank.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the more difficult and the longer the marathon swims are, the higher the ranking of the athletes.
