SARASOTA YMCA had a remarkable day to move to the top of the combined team title race at the YMCA Short Course Nationals.  Meanwhile, Auglaize Mercer&#039;s Josh Fleagle took down his second YMCA record of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Sarasota moved into the lead with 695 points in the combined team title race, while Middle Tyger slid to second with 643 points. York (610), Lakeland Hills (424) and Somerset Hills (411) made up the rest of the top five. <\/p>\n<p>Fleagle shot down his second YMCA record of the meet.  This time, he posted a 43.41 to win the men&#039;s 100 free.  That swim eclipsed the 44.11 set by Tim Phillips in 2009. Earlier in the meet, <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/lane9\/news\/USA\/30197.asp target=_blank>Fleagle smashed the 50 free YMCA record<\/a> with a 20.19. Triangle Area&#039;s Joe Bonk also surpassed the previous standard with a second-place 44.09. Crescenta Canada&#039;s Fred Abramyan touched third in 44.96. <\/p>\n<p>Somerset Hills&#039; Jenna Immormino won the women&#039;s 100 free in 50.12, while Middle Tyger&#039;s Katrina Konopka took second in 50.15. Konopka led prelims with a 50.03. Schroeder&#039;s Alexandra Meyers placed third in 50.19. <\/p>\n<p>York&#039;s Hali Flickinger topped the women&#039;s 400 IM in 4:13.54. Middle Tyger&#039;s Annie Gillig placed second in 4:18.71, while Middle Tyger&#039;s Haley Lips earned third in 4:19.07.<\/p>\n<p>Green Bay&#039;s John Bushman cruised to victory in the men&#039;s 400 IM with a 3:51.31. Lancaster&#039;s Chris DiPietro turned in a second-place 3:54.64, while York&#039;s Brandon Flynn took third in 3:56.74.  <\/p>\n<p>Sarasota&#039;s Ashlee Linn just missed the YMCA record in the women&#039;s 200 back with a 1:55.62 for the win.  That swim came up short of Annie Gillig&#039;s 2009 effort of 1:55.45 for Middle Tyger. Montgomery&#039;s Sarah Reynolds took second in 1:56.88, while Countryside&#039;s Emily Slabe wound up third in 1:58.71 after posting a 1:56.69 in prelims.  Gillig faded to sixth in 1:59.59.<\/p>\n<p>Sarasota&#039;s Alexander Katz won the men&#039;s 200 back in 1:45.17. Lakeland Hills&#039; Luke Papendick touched second in 1:45.24, while Upper Main Line&#039;s Nic Graesser placed third in 1:46.89. <\/p>\n<p>Sarasota&#039;s Danielle Valley, Hannah James, Taylor Katz and Ashlee Linn claimed the women&#039;s 800 free relay in 7:17.82. Middle Tyger&#039;s Katrina Konopka, Danielle Galyer, Ali Galyer and Hannah Lips took second in 7:20.57, while York&#039;s Courtney Harnish, Meghan Small, Hali Flickinger and Sada Stewart claimed third in 7:22.37. <\/p>\n<p>Sarasota&#039;s Derek Pridemore, Liam McKane, Will Kazokas and Alexander Katz rolled to victory in the men&#039;s 800 free relay with a 6:38.41. Triangle Area&#039;s Macon Crowder, Grayson Davis, Joe Bonk and Colin Ellington touched second in 6:42.91. York&#039;s Bradley Strathmeyer, Noah Stewart, Brandon Flynn and Noah Martin clocked a 6:45.02 for third-place honors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GREENSBORO, North Carolina, April 4.
