Bluefish Swim Club had a strong second day of the 2018 Speedo Sectionals Championship Series in Buffalo, NY. They currently lead the team scores with 314 points, followed by North Baltimore (306.5), Scarlet (289), Berkeley (190) and Allegheny North (136).<\/p>\n

Berkeley\u2019s\u00a0Sophia Kudryashova <\/strong>won a close women\u2019s 200 free race, stopping the clock in 2:03.70. The Fish\u2019s Madelyn Donohoe <\/strong>took second in a close 2:03.79 and North Baltimore\u2019s Megan Drumm <\/strong>was third in 2:04.97.<\/p>\n Scarlet\u2019s Oludare Rose <\/strong>won the men\u2019s 200 free, getting his hand to the wall first in 1:52.08. Allegheny North\u2019s Mason Gonzalez <\/strong>(1:52.67) was close behind in second and his teammate Jack Wright <\/strong>(1:52.83) finished third.<\/p>\n The women\u2019s 100 breast race went to North Baltimore\u2019s Samantha Ai <\/strong>with a time of 1:12.71. Her teammate Lauren Poole <\/strong>was right behind in 1:13.09 for second and Berkeley\u2019s Clarissa Sabin <\/strong>took third in 1:13.23.<\/p>\n Velocity\u2019s Luke Otto <\/strong>cruised to first in the men\u2019s 100 breast after touching the wall in 1:04.80. Second went to Baldwin\u2019s David Abtahams <\/strong>(1:05.50) and third went to Bluefish\u2019s River Wright <\/strong>(1:05.75).<\/p>\n Fourteen-year-old Summer Smith <\/strong>of Bluefish\u00a0won the women\u2019s 100 fly in a time of 1:03.22, followed by her teammate Gianna Spremullo <\/strong>in 1:03.70. Allegheny North\u2019s Ella Ogden <\/strong>was third in 1:04.20.<\/p>\n Solo\u2019s Matthew Yish<\/strong>, who is headed to Auburn in the fall, won the men\u2019s fly in 54.83. Wright was a close second in 54.95 and Gonzalez took third in 55.03.<\/p>\n Islanders\u2019\u00a0Makayla Sargent <\/strong>won the women\u2019s 400 IM by nearly four seconds, getting the gold in 4:49.32. Poole grabbed the silver in 4:53.19 and bronze went to NYS Aquatics\u2019\u00a0Jessica Pryne <\/strong>in 4:58.19.<\/p>\n Future Tar Heel Harrison Homans <\/strong>of Bluefish won the men\u2019s 400 IM in 4:29.34. Rose took second in 4:31.82 and third went to Ridgefield\u2019s Yeziel Morales <\/strong>in 4:38.95.<\/p>\n North Baltimore\u2019s Drumm (2:07.83), Ai (2:06.01), Allison Tomsuden<\/strong> (2:07.62) and Poole (2:10.73) combined to dominate the women\u2019s 4×200 free relay in 8:32.19. Scarlet finished second in 8:41.46 and The Fish took third in 8:42.74.<\/p>\n Bluefish\u2019s Homans (1:57.50), Wright, Barao and William Hein <\/strong>(1:59.84) won the men\u2019s 4×200 free relay to conclude the second day with a time of 7:48.84.
