Grodzki is just a week away from breaking the legendary men's 1650-yard freestyle NCAA and U.S. Open record of Chris Thompson (14:26.62) with an astonishing 14:24.08. He dueled Stanford's Chad La Tourette in the effort, as La Tourette wound up with the American record with a 14:24.35 in the closest 1650-yard freestyle race in NCAA history. <\/p>\n
Fiat Minas' Lucas Kanieski (15:31.76) and Marco Oliveira (15:50.10) finished second and third in the men's 1500 free tonight.
