Rainey split a 26.40 on the backstroke leg that was the fastest in the field. He came home with a 25.43 free split that was the fastest behind only Kenyon&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Leenhouts\u00a0<\/strong>who split a 25.40. Rainey won the final with a 1:46.94 for his first NCAA title.<\/p>\n<p>Wash U&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kevin Van Cleave\u00a0<\/strong>gave Rainey a good run as he came just short of the title with a 1:47.18. Denison&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bebe Wang\u00a0<\/strong>was third at 1:47.50 as Denison continued its showing of its impressive depth. She came back on Wednesday night at the IU Natatorium with another 1:58 but she was short of her own record at 1:58.86. Smith was just off his NCAA record he set this morning of 19.37.
