DEBRECEN, Hungary, March 29. THE Hungarian National Championships kicked off today in Debrecen, Hungary. <\/p>\n
Zsuzsanna Jakabos raced to victory in the women's 200 fly with a 2:07.85. That swim jumped her to sixth in the world rankings. Eva Risztov touched second in 2:09.55, while Boglarka Kapas earned third in 2:10.92. <\/p>\n
Laszlo Cseh stopped the clock in 4:15.15 in the men's 400 IM, ranking him eighth in the world rankings this year. Gergely Gyurta took second in 4:16.56 to take 14th in the world, while Ioannis Drymonakos touched third in 4:20.27. <\/p>\n
After leading the men's 200 free prelims with a 1:49.30, Gergo Kis led the men's 200 free finals in 1:49.50. Peter Bernek (1:49.53) and Norbert Trandafir (1:49.63) placed second and third. Kis doubled up with a 7:55.23 for the top men's 800 free time to move into sixth in the world.<\/p>\n
Richard Bohus topped the men's 50 back in 25.59, while Laszlo Cseh placed second in 25.70. Both times moved into the top 25. Gabor Balog finished third in 26.43. Anna Sztankovics won the women's 50 breast in 32.48, while Tanja Smid took second in 32.78. Evelyn Verraszto picked up third in 32.99. Reka Gyorgy captured the women's 400 IM title in 4:52.24, while Nikoletta Kiss touched second in 4:54.63. Virag Hives placed third in 4:55.80. <\/p>\n
SEMIFINALS<\/B>
\nDaniel Gyurta led the way in the men's 100 breast semis with a 1:01.56, while Gabor Financsek qualified second in 1:01.84. Dragos Agache took third in 1:03.67. Gyurta has been much faster this year with a seventh-ranked 1:00.43 from Antwerp in January. South Africa's Chad Le Clos clocked a 53.18 to lead the men's 100 fly semis, while Bence Pulai qualified second in 53.86. Bence Biczo turned in a third-seeded 54.35. <\/p>\n
Evelyn Verraszto (56.91) and Eszter Dara (56.93) qualified first and second in the women's 100 free, while Agnes Mutina posted a third-ranked 57.27. Zsuzsanna Jakabos raced to a 1:03.19 in the women's 100 back semis, while Evelyn Verraszto clocked a 1:04.04 for second.
