SEATTLE, Wash., Nov. 10. ELLIOTT Kolbe (Sr., Gardenerville, Nev.\/Douglas HS) was the only
\ndouble event winner for the Redhawks as he led the Seattle University men to a 111-90 victory over national NAIA rival Simon Fraser. The Redhawks could not complete the sweep, however, as the women fell 113-89.<\/p>\n
It was a big victory for the Seattle men who defeated SFU in dual meet competition for the first time ever. SU has placed third in the past three NAIA national
\nmeets with Simon Fraser finishing first each of those years.<\/p>\n
Kolbe won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.99. He was alsovictorious in his signature event, the 100-yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:00.25.<\/p>\n
Jonathan Bartsch (Fr., Billings, Mont.\/Billings HS) picked up a huge victory in the 200-yard individual medley in a very tight race as he edged SFU's Klaus Haertel with a time of 1:57.62.<\/p>\n
On the women's side, Megan Ackerman (Jr., Shoreline, Wash.\/Shoreline HS)defeated longtime collegiate rival Lisa Huffman in the 1000-yard freestyle. Ackerman was victorious by over 10 seconds, finishing in 10:39.16, setting a new pool record. The only other individual winner for Seattle was Merceda Rivera (Fr., Mountain View, Hawaii.\/Waiakea HS), who was victorious in the
\n100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.56.<\/p>\n
The Redhawks travel to Olympia, Wash. for a three-team dual meet at Evergreen State against Evergreen and Linfield College.<\/p>\n
