﻿{"id":301160,"date":"2018-03-17T17:46:49","date_gmt":"2018-03-18T00:46:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=301160"},"modified":"2018-03-17T17:54:15","modified_gmt":"2018-03-18T00:54:15","slug":"stanford-becomes-third-womens-team-to-sweep-ncaa-relays-with-400-free-relay-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanford-becomes-third-womens-team-to-sweep-ncaa-relays-with-400-free-relay-win\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanford Becomes Third Women&#8217;s Team To Sweep NCAA Relays With 400 Free Relay Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Stanford Cardinal had history on the line as they had a chance to become only the third team to win all five relays at an NCAA Championships, as well as become the third school to win 13 total titles in a single NCAA Division I Women&#8217;s Swimming and Diving Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford joins 2005 Georgia and 2008 Arizona as winners of all five relays, and joins Florida (1982-1988) and Stanford (1993) to win 13 total titles in a single meet.<\/p>\n<p>The Stanford Cardinal capped off the historic meet with a 3:07.94 and a 45.47 anchor from\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong>. They were a little off the record they set last year at 3:07.61.\u00a0<strong>Janet Hu\u00a0<\/strong>(47.49),\u00a0<strong>Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>(47.13),\u00a0<strong>Katie Drabot\u00a0<\/strong>(47.85) and Manuel (45.47) swam for the Cardinal.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t easy though as Cal gave them everything they could handle as they were second at 3:08.05.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amy Bilquist\u00a0<\/strong>(47.59),\u00a0<strong>Abbey Weitzeil\u00a0<\/strong>(46.37),\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Baker\u00a0<\/strong>(47.21) and\u00a0<strong>Katie McLaughlin\u00a0<\/strong>(46.88) swam for the Golden Bears.<\/p>\n<p>There was a big race for third in the relay that eventually went to Virginia at 3:10.50.
