The team&#8217;s relays stole the spotlight, setting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/north-allegheny-boys-take-down-200-free-and-400-free-relay-national-hs-records\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National High School records in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays<\/a>. North Penn finished second with 190 points.<\/p>\n<p>The team from North Allegheny made it a relay sweep, also winning the 200 medley relay, though in much less dominant fashion.\u00a0<strong>Andrew Zhang<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jerry Chen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tolik Borisov<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Joel Songer\u00a0<\/strong>touched first in 1:31.14. North Penn&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Hartmann<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sean Faikish<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Noah Jamieson<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ryley Fein\u00a0<\/strong>were runner ups in 1:31.51.<\/p>\n<p>North Allegheny&#8217;s winning turned into a streak when junior\u00a0<strong>Jack Wright\u00a0<\/strong>won the second event of the night, touching first in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:34.77. Hatsboro-Horsham senior\u00a0<strong>Andy Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>finished second with a 1:35.89. Third place went to Mcdowell&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bobby Bolmanski\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:39.61.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rick Mihm\u00a0<\/strong>brought home another win for North Allegheny. The sophomore finished the 200 IM in a 1:46.09. Kennett&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emils Jurick\u00a0<\/strong>touched in a quick 1:47.91 and North Penn&#8217;s Faikish joined them under 1:50 with his 1:49.11. Later in the meet Mihim won the 500 freestyle (4:24.02) and Jurick finished second (4:28.04).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mason Gonzalez\u00a0<\/strong>brought home North Allegheny&#8217;s fourth straight gold, clocking a 19.99 second 50 freestyle. State College&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matt Brownstead<\/strong>, only a sophomore, earned silver in 20.08. Bronze went to Liberty&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Robert Negron\u00a0<\/strong>in 20.40. Gonzalez and Wright went one-two in the 100 freestyle in times of 43.03 and 43.56.<\/p>\n<p>Another team finally landed on top of the podium in the 100 butterfly. Conestoga junior\u00a0<strong>Brendan Burns\u00a0<\/strong>posted a state record 47.04 100 butterfly. The old mark was a 47.26 set by\u00a0<strong>Ryan Dudzinski\u00a0<\/strong>in 2015. Penn Hills&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Kimani Gregory\u00a0<\/strong>was second (48.03) and North Penn&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Hartmann\u00a0<\/strong>(49.41) finished third. Gregory was third in the 100 freestyle (43.76).<\/p>\n<p>Wright, Songer, Mihm, and Gonzalez combined for the 1:19.60 that set the state, and National Public School record in the 200 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<p>Burns returned for another state title, winning the 100 backstroke by a solid margin in 46.93. Zhang touched second (49.30) and Souderton&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Storm Krader\u00a0<\/strong>also cleared 50 seconds (49.84).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Josh Matheny<\/strong>, a freshman from Upper St. Clair dominated the 100 breaststroke, finsihing in 54.55. North Penn&#8217;s Faikish touched second (55.43) and North Allegheny&#8217;s Chen (56.30) was third.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzalez, Zhang, Wright, and Mihm won the 400 freestyle relay in 2:53.81, destroying the state record (2:59.58) and the National mark.
