The Cardinal won the title with a new American and NCAA Record in the process at 3:25.09. Stanford remains undefeated in the swimming pool as the team has won every single swimming event through Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ally Howe\u00a0<\/strong>(50.34),\u00a0<strong>Kim Williams\u00a0<\/strong>(58.59),\u00a0<strong>Janet Hu\u00a0<\/strong>(50.36)\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong>\u00a0(45.80)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>broke the NCAA Record at 3:25.09 as they got everything they could handle from Indiana in the race, who placed second at 3:26.09. The Hoosiers were second thanks to\u00a0<strong>Ally Rockett\u00a0<\/strong>(51.31),\u00a0<strong>Lilly King\u00a0<\/strong>(56.02),\u00a0<strong>Christie Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>(51.13) and\u00a0<strong>Kennedy Goss\u00a0<\/strong>(47.63). King&#8217;s split is the fastest breaststroke split ever.<\/p>\n<p>California (3:26.86), Louisville (3:26.93), Minnesota (3:28.34), Texas (3:30.61) and Texas A&amp;M (3:30.80) placed in the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>The top splits were from Howe, King,\u00a0<strong>Noemie Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>(50.25) and\u00a0<strong>Mallory Comerford\u00a0<\/strong>(45.74).<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee was originally sixth with a 3:29.17, but was disqualified for their freestyle leg kicking on her back.<\/p>\n<p>There were also some solid splits from\u00a0<strong>Beata Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>(49.83) and\u00a0<strong>Louise Hansson\u00a0<\/strong>(49.24) in the B-Final as Nelson swam backstroke and Hansson swam butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>This is Stanford&#8217;s fifth straight NCAA title in the event as Howe and Hu have been on the last four of the winning relays. It is also Stanford&#8217;s 14th overall title in the event.
