A number of youngsters swam their way to the top of the podium tonight.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Backstroke<\/h3>\n<p>A pair of 15 year olds topped the 100 backstroke tonight.\u00a0<strong>Isabelle Stadden\u00a0<\/strong>saw a huge drop as the AquaJets swimmer touched in 51.33. That swim was just .03 shy of\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith<\/strong>&#8216;s National Age Group record (51.30). Nation&#8217;s Capital&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Phoebe Bacon\u00a0<\/strong>was runner up in 51.60.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Caitlin Brooks<\/strong>, a 17 year old from Gator Swim Club, picked up Bronze in 52.48.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grace Countie<\/strong> of the Marlins of Raleigh finished fourth (52.94). Dolan touched in 47.28, followed by Academy Bullets&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Spencer Walker\u00a0<\/strong>in 47.67 and\u00a0<strong>Mitchell Whyte\u00a0<\/strong>in 47.76.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peter Simmons\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth with a 48.21. The AquaJets had a finalist on the men&#8217;s side as well, as\u00a0<strong>Jack Dahlgren<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jack-dahlgren-reunites-with-sister-with-verbal-commitment-to-mizzou\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a Missouri commit<\/a>, touched fifth in 48.54.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aidan Stoffle\u00a0<\/strong>(48.66),\u00a0<strong>Peter Larson\u00a0<\/strong>(48.87), and\u00a0<strong>Roberty Kondalski\u00a0<\/strong>(48.96) rounded out the top heat.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Men\u2019s 100y Back A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fjrUa9FKNVo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 500 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>Thirteen year old sensation\u00a0<strong>Claire Tuggle\u00a0<\/strong>dropped an impressive five seconds from her lifetime best to outlast 15 year old\u00a0<strong>Ashley Strouse<\/strong>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/madison-homovich-gives-verbal-commitment-georgia-bulldogs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Georgia commit<\/a>, and Marlins of Raleigh&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Madison Homovich<\/strong>\u00a0and win the 500 freestyle. Tuggle touched in 4:41.36. At only 13, she is now only six seconds slower than\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong>&#8216;s 13-14 National Age Group record.<\/p>\n<p>Strouse finished in 4:41.78 while Homovich stopped the clock in 4:41.95. The race was tight the whole way. At the 200 mark they flipped in 1:52.38, 1:52.29, and 1:52.38 respectively).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lola Mull\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth in 4:46.56, just faster than\u00a0<strong>Grace Sheble\u00a0<\/strong>with a 4:47.85.\u00a0<strong>Sophie Skinner\u00a0<\/strong>(4:49.30),\u00a0<strong>Rachel Klinker\u00a0<\/strong>(4:50.00), and\u00a0<strong>Addison Smith\u00a0<\/strong>(4:53.93) finished sixth through eighth.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women\u2019s 500y Free A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wZ1ucCldcO8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>Metro Atlanta Aquatic Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Willie Davis\u00a0<\/strong>raced to a 43.98 100 freestyle, just clearing the 44 second mark, and picking up gold. In his second swim of the night, Dolan knocked a full second from his prelims time, to touch in 44.06, good for second, and a lifetime best by .01. On his heels was\u00a0<strong>David Madej\u00a0<\/strong>in 44.08.<\/p>\n<p><strong>William Davis\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 44.58, good for fourth, ahead of\u00a0<strong>Brandon Hamblin\u00a0<\/strong>in 44.75. The 15 year old touched in 2:09.63. Continuing their strong week, the Marlins of Raleigh took silver and bronze with\u00a0<strong>Abigail Arens\u00a0<\/strong>(2:10.04) and\u00a0<strong>Ashley McCauley\u00a0<\/strong>(2:10.20). Just behind that duo was\u00a0<strong>Gillian Davey\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:10.62.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth place went to\u00a0<strong>Heather Maccausland\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:11.66. She was followed by\u00a0<strong>Kylie Powers\u00a0<\/strong>(2:12.44),\u00a0<strong>Annika Wagner\u00a0<\/strong>(2:13.03), and\u00a0<strong>Valerie Tarazi\u00a0<\/strong>(2:13.64).<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women\u2019s 200y Breast A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e-zqsylT9hY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n<p>Seven swimmers were under two minutes in tonight&#8217;s 200 breaststroke final.\u00a0<strong>Charles Scheinfeld\u00a0<\/strong>earned the victory, touching in 1:55.94.\u00a0<strong>Casey Storch<\/strong> finished second in 1:56.67. Finishing third was\u00a0<strong>Izaak Bastian\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:57.90.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kyle Barker\u00a0<\/strong>edged\u00a0<strong>Bernhard Christianson\u00a0<\/strong>1:58.40 to 1:58.60 for fourth place.\u00a0<strong>Michael Chang\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.21) and\u00a0<strong>Jason Louser\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.32) were also under two minutes.\u00a0<strong>Andrew Grespin\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.89) finished eighth.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Men\u2019s 200y Breast A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ulTquJ-pI2U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Butterfly<\/h3>\n<p>Swimming for the second time tonight, Bates won the 100 butterfly. The Gator Swim Club 17 year old touched in 52.87. Fifteen year old\u00a0<strong>Victoria Huske\u00a0<\/strong>earned runner up honors in 53.15.<\/p>\n<p>A Nation&#8217;s Capital trio followed.\u00a0<strong>Abigail Harter\u00a0<\/strong>(53.51),\u00a0<strong>Sydney Harrington\u00a0<\/strong>(53.58), and\u00a0<strong>Isabella Gati\u00a0<\/strong>(53.63) were third through fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Completing the Championship final were\u00a0Schoof (53.75),\u00a0<strong>Abigail Gibbons\u00a0<\/strong>(53.92), and\u00a0<strong>Mallory Beil\u00a0<\/strong>(54.33).<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women\u2019s 100y Free A Final | 2018 NCSA Junior Championships\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JXuUj2v3L5E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Butterfly<\/h3>\n<p>Willie Davis pulled off an impressive double, adding a 100 butterfly gold to his 100 freestyle title. Davis touched in 47.65, out touching Marlins of Raleigh&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/another-marlin-to-nc-state-zach-brown-gives-verbal-commitment-to-wolfpack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NC State commit\u00a0<\/a><strong>Zach Brown\u00a0<\/strong>in 47.66. Also in his second Championship final of the night, Davis&#8217; twin brother William came up just short of the brother one-two, finishing third in 48.01. He edged\u00a0<strong>Charles Korndorffer,\u00a0<\/strong>who wound up fourth in 48.09.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaps-philip-manoff-verbally-commits-to-virginia-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philip Manoff<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0who will head to Virginia Tech in the fall,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>finished fifth (48.17) and\u00a0<strong>David Madej\u00a0<\/strong>(48.26) was sixth. Finishing second was the team of <strong>Mariana Kraus<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jessica Davis<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Georgia White<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Grace Cooper<\/strong>\u00a0from Delta Aquatics in a 1:32.21. Third went to Huntsville&#8217;s <strong>Alison Hu<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rebekah Hamilton<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Regan Weakley<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Kobie Melton\u00a0<\/strong>who combined for a 1:32.34.<\/p>\n<p>Nation&#8217;s Capital (1:32.45), Academy Bullets (1:32.61), Marlins of Raleigh (1:32.81), Gator Swim Club (1:33.27), and Scottsdale Aquatic Club (1:33.32) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 4&#215;50 Freestyle Relay<\/h3>\n<p>In the final event of the night, <strong>Caleb Carlson<\/strong>\u00a0teamed up with <strong>Spencer Walker<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>William Kamps<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Horace Qiao<\/strong>\u00a0to win the 200 freestyle relay for Academy Bullets in a 1:21.66. New Trier took second in 1:21.90 with the team of <strong>Charles Scheinfeld<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ryan Gridley<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Thomas Barr<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Pearce Bailey<\/strong>. Nation&#8217;s Capital took home bronze behind a 1:22.24 effort from Brandon Hamblin, Jonathan Pollock, Steven Thalblum, and Peter Makin.<\/p>\n<p>Gator Swim Club (1:23.61) and Waukesha Express (1:23.67) were fourth and fifth. Long Island Aquatic Club and St. Charles Swim Team tied for sixth in 1:23.71.
